That was a great away point. I never thought we would get anywhere near claiming anything today. Not many teams have gone to Bolton and scored three goals. Huge signs of life from Charlton. But we are still deep in the relegation dogfight. Cheltenham and Port Vale are still capable of overtaking us. And in the end, terrific battling point though it was, it is only one point. 2 points from 3 games under our new manager. An improvement in performance maybe. But still relegation form. And more difficult games to come.
An awful lot of fans have assumed we'd get nothing from playing the top 3. They've also been saying that our 2 best players today, Kanu and Anderson, aren't ready. NJ knows better.
To be fair, I wasn't over impressed with Anderson until today, but that was a huge performance. And Kanu was thereabouts for man of the match. As with Appelton, the new manager is seeing players come back that the previous manager couldn't use, but today felt like a real statement. Training on Monday should be a lot happier than recent weeks.
