Will do. Quite apt given its World Rum Day today. https://www.world-rum-day.com/world-rum-day.html Missed National Pina Colada day on the 10th though. Rupert Holmes will be delighted there's such a day. Interesting bit of trivia. Rupert Holmes was born in Northwich, the town I've lived in for the last 27 years.
Ah yes but it's still knowledge regardless of how or where it's acquired. So take the bloody compliment.
That wasn't a tyre, just a clean of the rim and a re-seal of the old tyre. Interestingly, a previous owner had ballasted the tyre by filling it with water. Usually done when using heavy kit on the back, not with a loader tractor which has a load of weight on the front anyway. It's weight on the back you need with a loader. If I'm transporting water in an IBC I often get the back wheels spinning in 2 wheel drive, especially when reversing.
Mrs Remote and I have spent quite a bit of time with whatever my mother is watching on the TV. We have grown to like Death in Paradise. I found all 13 series on iPlayer so we've started watching them in order from the beginning. Might catch up on a few episodes. Just sat in the tractor getting ready to lay out 30 ish fence posts down a hedge line ready fir when I hire a post knocker in the week. After a bit of graft I'll be ready to watch something trivial and slow moving. Oh, wait.......
A thing. A 200kg weight on a hydrolic lifter that fits on the back of the tractor. I'd put half a dozen in with a hand knocker but I've got about 60 to do including 5 strainers which are about 9 inches in diameter. Can't do those by hand. Normal posts are 3-4".
I've got about 1-200 photos of our journey, from our offer on the land being accepted, through to now. The fencing, the building of the shed, the stables, the veg plot, the flock. Lots of tractor work. Every time my daughter moans about what we haven't done, I sit her down and show her what we have done.
Just getting the tractor prepped for a day post knocking later in the week. Check oil levels, check hydrolic levels, check water levels. Fill the tractor with diesel. It takes some filling, it's got a 250l tank. Only needed to put 112 in though. That's made a dent in the 500 delivered this morning.
As with most things, it varies greatly clingo. Diameter and pointiness of post, ground conditions, knocker weight, height of drop all contribute. Very technical is the knocking of posts, don't you know. If had posts where just balancing the weight of the knocker on the post pushes it in. I've had a strainer where a 200kg knocker dropped 3 feet pushed it in an inch or two. And a 2.4m strainer will be knocked a metre into the ground.
