I’m loving the bird chatter on this thread, I’m a tit man myself as I’ve got every variety coming to my feeders along with the usual forest /garden types including woodpeckers, nuttaches etc I’ve also got this fella joining me for breakfast every morning
Don't mention painful peckers to masky. Mealworm are universal food for birds. We used to put live food out, but stick to dry stuff now.
The one fish catcher we actively discourage are cormorants. One is one too many. As I said, there are a number of side hobbies to fishing. Bird watching is just one. I might start cataloging what I see at the fishery and smallholding. A couple years back, I think I posted about a pied wagtail that had nested somewhere in the depths of the tractor. They used to follow me from field to field. Once they didn't. That was because I was about 5 miles away from base. She was straight in when I got back. 5 young fledged. Not checked on the swallows nest building for a few days. Here is a grainy piccy of one of the collar doves in the roof space of the shed.
I don't envy you one little bit Remote, I had a farm myself once and it was bloody hectic, sometimes 16 hours non stop . I was so glad when I packed it in. Still got some old photos somewhere
I knew a bloke once that managed an aviary. He always had a headache from the noise and could never find his painkillers. Apparently the parrots ate 'em all. Brizzle get my plumage would you.
4 hours ago this was swimming around a 37 acre lake 600 yds from our small holding. Caught, killed, gutted, cooked. And now eaten.
