Sorry mate. I was a bit flippant with my reply. Don't know anything about planes but I like watching them To my completely untrained eye, that one looks military and not British?
none on my feeders in Turktown unfortunately and I'm quite close to forestry....but I'm happy with my tits
Beautiful plumage! Yep. Nuthatches increasingly common in gardens close to trees. They usually prefer tables to hanging feeders but they're adaptable when it comes to a free meal. Gorgeous little birds .
very warm there Clingo...If kim jong un ever sees one we are all in trouble one last clue - there are only 3 breeding pairs in Europe and they are nesting in RAF Fairford
The mighty B52 ... there were grown men crying when this behemoth flew over at the Bournemouth air festival. It wasn't penciled in to be part of the show but it was arriving back from Belgium so it swooped in. As a plane twitcher told me 'these babies operate at 32000ft and we are seeing one at 1400ft' -just got a tissue out in time for his ...um... tears
I'm not a million miles away from Fairford and although I've never seen one, I've been told that I've heard them when I asked the question "what's making that noise". I'll be more vigilant next time I hear one
Nah. Taffy through and through. My company do some stuff in the UK though. Sadly not with B-52s though...
taking pictures (while not at an airshow) will get you a new suit ... with numbers on the chest pocket
Enjoyed my days with British Aerospace at Filton, stood on the runway apron watching a variety of aircraft takeoff and land. Also spent a bit of time in Tucson, Arizona with Hughes Aircraft. Davis Monthan Airforce Base is an interesting place. Always incongruous to be waiting at Tucson International Airport and seeing fighter jets taking off between civil aircraft. Aparently they'd hop them there across town from Davis Monthan to allow test flights by foreign airforces who, at the time werent allowed on US bases.
I've worked airside at an airbase in the Netherlands and watched their fighters take off regularly and also got quite close to the Red Arrows here in bournemouth on a few occasions, now my ears aint so perceptive
Missed all these posts last night - great content. On the subject of planes, I've flown on Concorde - anyone else?
