My lasses son is a mag and it causes no end of strife like! He's 24 by the way not a bairn! Washington where I live has loads of "geordies" but i'd say it's about 60/40 in our favour like...

    My Janie hates football.

Her brothers all live in Cowgate, are diehard mags but we love one another & they are ****ing good lads that I would go to war with.

    Solid, tough, lads.

I disagree Murray, the only place to clag em is the premier concourse, right up in the Gods.

    100%.

Why in the N Stand at all? It beggars belief that after years of thinking about it, the club are going to disrupt a whole lot of people now and totally change the feel of the stadium. The away fans should be kept down at the SW corner and swap with the barmy army going behind the goal. That way, there will be minimal disruption and the feel of the SOL wont change that much. The big difference will be a real singing end behind the goal aka Roker Park.

I for one will be very disappointed to have the away fans right next to me up in the concourse and it will lead to the singing section in the SW corner being broken up too imo.

The club wiull surely have to re-think this whole thing again. Where was the consultation of fans that will be effected? Where was the research into what it will mean for the whole feel fo the stadium. Its a disaster waiting to happen imo and not good PR for a club that has often prided itself on good PR.

I am one of those who will be moved. I have sat in every area of the ground and there really isn't a bad seat, wouldn't go in the east stand because of the sun in your eyes (when it's out of course) but thats not a ground/view problem and don't want to be low down.
Having said that the view from where I sit is easily the best of all so the away fans won't be grumbling to much.

I bloody hope not I sit row 32 in the North Stand and I dont want **** being thrown down and disgusting animals spitting at my head. The North Stand is and should always be the home end. Id rather keep the f u ckers where they are at least i cant smell them when their at the other end of the ground.

From what I have gathered, from reading this and the RTG forum, the changes to the Black Cats bar have influenced this as much as Ellis Shorts wishes and pressure from supporters in the survey this summer to move the away fans. A lot of the people being moved will be to accommodate the new BCB balcony area at the back of the North stand lower tier.

I don't know the capacities but perhaps the SW corner is not big enough for the away numbers who come (and who we want to come) to the SoL and no club can afford to turn away paying customers whether they are from the opposing team or not.

Moving away supporters to the NS upper will use the emptiest part of the ground from my experience, and as long as we make sure they cannot throw stuff at our supporters in the lower tier should work out fine. I remember being pelted with coins at Old Trafford once when we were below their fans so it is an issue to sort out.

My impression is that the club are trying to make the South stand a 'singing' area, which will have a light touch on stewarding in respect of standing, which is another thing that fans have been wanting for ages, and came out of the fans survey last summer. Obviously the law states that standing isn't allowed so they can't come out and say this but I get the feeling that is the intention.

One other thing I would do though would be to offer concessions for both the North stand lower and the South stand so parents and kids can sit (stand) together. If the South stand also continues to have some match day sales there should be some flexibility so that friends, with and without season tickets, can sit (stand) together, which should improve the atmosphere.

Think me and my season ticket will be moving to the south stand. Am not risking p*ss, bottles coins etc getting thrown down on my head.
Like my seat in north stand lower but don't want the hassle with away supporters.

Just because they are skunks doesn't make them Geordies..I certainly would never class anyone from washington as a Geordie no matter who they support...

100% agree ..but sometimes the obvious and most pragmatic decisions are left in the hands of people who either do not understand ,or worse do not care.....to simply swap the swc with the away support in my opinion would be the best solution as no season ticket holders would really be affected as most are in the south wc to be near the away support (assuming they keep the price the same)As long as you keep our fans behind the goal you could extend or shrink the away allocation and sell the the undersold on the day to home supporters.this on some occasions would leave the swc looking rather empty but not as bad as having the area behind the goal empty..when you look at other matches on the tv and you see a section not filled you assume its the away support but at the sol the area is so large and prominent and the lower seats are filled last that others think our ground is half empty........any way why do others think that the powers at be have not chosen this obvious option?

My opinion is lack of thought and possibly ...or am i being to cinical to believe that they will be able to charge extra for tickets in the north upper stand and will be expecting a lot of the swc to move to the seats next to the away support...and are they not fiddling with the black cats bar and will have to move some of the fans from the lower north stand..and thus have a good reason to do so,with minimal resistance.
