There's been a few opportunities where Hooiveld could have been dropped, and he's had a few injuries as well.
Well he's behind Fonte as well. Forren is an LCB. Fonte is an RCB. Yet against Liverpool we brought Fonte on for Hoovield and moved Yoshida to LCB and played Fonte at RCB. Even though Yoshida is more solid and more comfortable at RCB than LCB. It's clear to me Forren is 4th choice and possibly even lower than that. Yoshida is obviously the 1st choice. He's played 90 minutes in all games since his debut. When Fonte was injured he didn't make the bench in some games. Maybe we'd have played Shaw or Cork at CB at that point if Yoshida or Hoovield had got injured.
Which is probably related to the fact that our central defenders have been quite good of late. Were they struggling, I'd imagine that Forren would have received consideration, but at this point there's really no need to mess with a tandem that's doing so well. I doubt that Fonte has suddenly turned into a lump in training, and he has gotten only three games since January 1st, only once being preferred to one of Maya/Jos.

For your information we have a head each thank goodness. Reading your post left me with an image of a multi bodied head rather than the usual monster with one body and several heads.
A lot of people seem to think that Forren is going to be our defensive saviour but based on what? I, for one, hadn't even heard of him when we signed him (admittedly that might have more to do with my knowledge of Norwegian football than his ability).
I know he's played some games for the under 21's, but thats not always a good indicator. Even there though he has had mixed reviews. I hope he comes good but at the moment I don't think we have enough information on him to be in a position to judge.

Watched him play for the under 21's a few months back and thought he was very, very poor. Difficult to judge players based on one game, but he didn't shape up at all for me and looked very exposed.

The continued improvement of the defence throughout the season has much to do with being a largely settled unit since Boruc's arrival in the team. Yoshida has improved as the season has developed to such an extent that it easy to understand why he is his country's captain. Shaw for Fox seemed a natural progression. The work in front of the back four became cohesive once Cork returned.
At the risk of repeating myself, Yoshida is not the captain of the Japan national team. He was the captain of their Olympic team, but he has never captained the senior side.
We have been lucky a few times, still comical at times. Against reading our defence messed up and if le fondre would have scored then everyone would be on their back, and a glimpse of nerves yesterday when yoshida cleared off the line after a mix up at the back. But all in all we do look a lot better at the back I agree, just need to cut these silly mistakes out

Maybe we'll see more of what Forren and Mayuka are like in the last couple of games of the season. I think there's a fair chance one or both may see a good bit of the game / games after being subbed on, and Mayuka in particular might get a start.
If this is the case, and sure it's just my guess, it may not do Forren's standing among fans any favours - considering the number of games our regular defence had before being seen as capable of playing the PL, unless Forren hits the ground running, if he has a similarly tough welcome to the PL the doubts among fans on this forum may get worse.
