I think he only bought Romeu and Mereiles though...all the rest were progressing or progressed by the board.

yeah could be right. I did think he had a good eye for talent, from his scouting days.

Well one thing is for sure, I feel sorry for Robby over these next couple of months!

Yup, although I read a while ago that he was thinking of moving on at the end of the year...not sure if that was to do with AVB or as someone mentioned earlier that he didn't get on with the players?

Just read that GFZ is being sounded out to help him out, but who knows if that is true or not...might be nice for a couple of months<ok>

Players have to much power in the game now. After all weren't these the same players who finished runners up last season. So whats gone wrong can't be all the managers fault, the players have aslso to shoulder some of the blame. After all did the players play to get AVB the sack, only now will the results under the new temp manager. If the results do change then it will be come to light that the players wanted AVB out of the club.

More than just time, AVB needed the fullest backing from Abramovich. Roman should have said that the new manager would be in place for 3 years to oversee the changes needed at Chelsea. Anyone unhappy could just piss off. Sadly for ABV, that isn't like Abramovich.

He obviously didn't expect we'd play so badly but when you call in senior pro's & tell them their time is up & expect them to then go out & give it their all, you'd be off your rocker. Also, when you try and replace a legend (Lamps) with a useless twat (Meireles) and send one of the best prospects around out on loan (McEachran) people are bound to start asking if you know what the **** you're doing!

Possibly but sod it, he's a few million quid better off so I don't really have too many tears to shed.

He had a remit to overhaul the squad and rebuild it. Instead of giving them a tickle and getting the best out of them until the summer and selling them on, he steamed in and ran the rule over a core group of players notorious for making life difficult for people if they wanted to.

What about freezing out Anelka and Alex, and to such a degree where apparently they weren't even allowed to the xmas party?

Two very popular figures in the club, ostricised and made to look like idiots for daring to suggest they wanted to leave.

He could have played it very, very differently...instead he chose to wear his "Roman Loves Me" badge on his forehead and go in bowling ball style.

I think we're coming to the same conclusion, but from 2 different directions. There's no doubt he didn't box particularly clever, and I think that shows his inexperience. On the other hand, what a ****ty position to be in, when he arrived full of hope and promise.
Anyway, history now, except the ring pieces are still there and a potentially terrific manager isn't.
As you say, he got the shaft and the gold mine and bloody good luck to him. He's not the first to be set up for life by RA for 6 months work, won't be the last. Where do you apply for the job ?????

He sold Alex, who was our best CB after JT IMO, and replaced him with Luiz. Ridiculous!

I agree! (Not sure about the applying for the job bit though)!
