I'm not so sure that I'd agree with it being a pointless stat, it does give evidence of a weakness in our play. It certainly points at something that needs addressing
In hindsight, I jumped in a bit quick with my comment, because I agree it draws attention to a weakness in our play. What I really meant was I don't see any real merit in publishing a table showing who would be top after 80 minutes. You don't see atable based on scores at half time,so why one after 80 minutes ?? That was my real point.
That is a ridiculous comment, remembering the title of this thread, it is an incredibly important stat. If I was AVB, that stat would give me no choice but to look at my tactical decisions in that part of a match. To say the stat is pointless is extremely narrow minded, you can only analyse what is available to you, and as a manager, that kind of information is priceless. I wonder where this came from... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ndre-Villas-Boas-held-meeting-over-late-goals
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-defenders-to-resolve-rash-of-late-goals.html Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has held a meeting with his defenders to discuss ways of preventing the rash of late goals that have cost the club 14 points already this season.
It was intresting to read that Michael Landrup thinks Bale wouldn't get on in Spain as his style isn't suited to the way they play
