Callum Wright will be missing for awhile with an injury.

Seems to be the dreaded knee ligament....Schumacher reckons 6/7 weeks.

Sheffield Wednesday is refusing to put any more money into the club.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66958019

He says "I am the one who needs to pay around £2m on average every month" so Wednesday are living beyond their means to the tune of £25m per annum despite attendances of 25k per home match.

    Presumably that's the biggest factor.

Birmingham name Rooney as new manager .....having got rid of Eustace.......just because Rooney had a successful playing career that doesn't mean he automatically is a good manager.

Many a good player never made it as a manager.....Billy Wright....Bobby Charlton etc etc.......Rooney has only got manager jobs on the hope that his playing career would be enough.....not a chance.

Queens Park FC is Scotland's oldest club (1867)....and their home games are played at Hampden which today it seems only holds just over 51,000 spectators....so their fans would probably only fill a small stand anyway......years back I think Hampden used to hold 120,000 and their fans would probably look like a small pin prick in the distant.

I can only assume that because it is the national stadium that Queens Park do not pay for the up keep of it....and only pay a small amount for each home games regarding stewarding etc.

It is debateable about a larger stadium keeping us in the Championship......last time I looked it was always points that did that.......as Sheffield W will tell you....having a biggish stadium.......Hillsborough being about 40,000.....doesn't stop you dropping down the divisions.

At the moment, the stadium limits the club's income. More bums on seats would allow more to be spent on players....

I don't know what happened to Sheffield Wednesday but a) under the current regime we aren't going to get into financial troubles and b) to date, we've spent wisely on players using a structured system rather than someone's gut instinct.

The very fact that this issue is going to be discussed with the fans is confirmation that we do things the right way.

Of course things can go wrong but I have every faith that Argyle spend any extra money well.

Reforming the FL calendar is on the agenda.....and all because of the "extra" European competitions that top clubs get involved in these days.

The days of glory that the little clubs have enjoyed in the FA Cup in the past....drawing with a bigger club and either getting them back to your tacky ground or extra dosh from an away replay at a big club is being threatened.

Changing rounds three and four to a one match result game is being talked about....to ease the congestion...FOR THE BIG CLUBS BENEFIT....no consideration about the small clubs financial loss or the glory that at times can be talked about for years ahead.

Another way for smaller clubs to go bust easier without that "extra" replay game and the money it can bring in to help them balance the books.

Nobody in the FA gives a flying fig for the EFL. There is only one competition in their sight and bugger the rest. It's their cash cow along with internationals. It's been that way for a long time now and all they are doing is gradually increasing the Premier revenue and throwing crumbs to the rest. The only purpose the lower leagues have is to produce the odd great player and to be the reserve side for the loan system. If that wasn't needed then they would just let us die on the vine.

To be clear, much of the impetus for this comes not from the elite clubs who already have what they want but FIFA and EUFA pandering to those countries and clubs outside the Golden Circle who want to get into it. At the same time, it gives FIFA and EUFA more cash for pointless games.

The very biggest clubs of course hanker after a European Super League with no relegation: greedy and destructive of course but also the absolute reverse of what EUFA want: more clubs in European cup competitions.

I could live without the League Cup, or whatever it’s called now, but I do care about the FA Cup. Every lowly team dreams of drawing Man U or Arsenal especially on their own turf.

....or drawing at Liverpool and playing again at home with extra seating especially brought in for the occasion.....could only happen from the fifth round onwards in future.....or we could just get thrashed by Grimsby....which would then be their day in the limelight of course.

It looks as if Saudi Arabia will be hosting the 2034 World Cup after Australia decided not to bid.

    2026 World Cup......USA, Mexico & Canada.

2030 World Cup.....Morocco, Portugal, Spain...plus games in Uruguay, Argentina & Paraguay.
