Just to let you know we have a lot of cricket fans over on the Norwich board; you're welcome to join us for our very popular off-topic Ashes threads... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/220077-2013-Ashes-2nd-test-Match-Thread/page10#post5038826
Good partnership between these two. Maybe Bresnan's batting average can edge above his bowling average if he can make a big score
Australia just havent really turned up at all. Apart from an unbelievable knock from a number 11 they was saved from total embarrassment in the first test. In the end England made hard work of it but got the win in the end In the 2nd Test they thought they had restricted England but there batting was a shambles all. Australia from the 2005 Ashes to this one is a million miles apart. Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Ponting, Lee, Hayden, Langer to what they have now. It must be hard for the Aussie fans
The Aussies are moaning about decisions again. We should give the bastards someothing to really whinge about - come on Andy Flower you know what to do. I'd love to see how Clarke etc. deal with that - and we've got the bowlers to execute it.
Snikko is not part of DRS. The problems relate to Human Error. You can have all the technical gizmos you want, but the final interpretation is down to 3rd umpire. There has and always will be poor decisions. Move on.
Good innings from Pietersen. He hit that. Can't believe 3rd umpire or the commentators didn't see the mark on hotspot
3 down, and it's raining. Can we hang on ? Now it's stopped raining.Restart at 2pm 75 overs left,we must stop defending and play more posative.
England deserve it overall. We've beaten them without being at our best. The Aussies have had to be bailed out at Trent Bridge by their bowling attack and a last wicket pairing. Then again they were useless at Lords, but the bowlers couldn't repeat it. Fair play to the comeback at Old Trafford, but they need to do more to stop their losing Test rut. They wouldn't have cared with all the on field problems if it was the other way round, and i bet they bent loads of rules to be the best Test nation all those years ago. So their sportsmanship bollocks can do one.
Breakthrough, Watson gone, now if we could just skittle out the rest of them for 100 or less we could be right back in the game.
Usual situation in this series: top 3 fall cheaply then we hope that Bell and Pietersen can put on a big partnership as once one of them goes the rest collapse. Root isn't working as an opener, Trott seems to have changed from a defensive to a positive player which isn't working, Bairstow isn't good enough and Cook who has all the talent in the world has totally lost his form.
What a great victory last night. England really know "how to win" At tea we looked out of it,but superb bowling, first by Bressy to get rid of Warner and then Broad to knock over the rest. Broads dismissal of Clarke was as good a delivery as you will see. Absolutely top class. Congratulations to the Aussie team, who took defeat in the proper way. No slagging off of DRS,Umpires, etc etc. Warne also calling it as it is. A truly memorable series to date, Roll on The Oval.
