Good luck to you and Charlie Austin from us at Hull. He's a decent bloke with a great scoring record and a good attitude. Sorry it didn't work out for him with us, but we're a bit sensitive about knee injuries after our experience with that tosser Bullard.

I'm sure he'll stay fit for you and score a **** load of goals. Hope so.

Nice of you to say so, and good luck in the big league, you've made some astute signings.

A well timed boost ahead of the start of the season

We have ourselves a goalscorer, now for Redknapp to start playing to his strengths

Next signing to follow has to be Townsend to supply the crosses

Hed have to play on the left to do that, Redknapp always played him on the right.

Could be said of any player Col, if he continues his current scoring record I'll be very happy, even if he only plays 30 games.

I was referring to the fact that he failed the medical at Hull mate. Bit of a worry no?

On the face of it yes, but we may have struck a deal with both Burnley and him that reflects that risk. Plus, my trust in medics is at best partial, especially when after my GP clearly suspected I had bladder cancer last year, when even I knew I had kidney stones. I was also told at 25 that I needed the cartilage in my left knee seeing to, but managed to struggle on playing for another 15 years (at a low, but physical, level) with bearable discomfort.

We still need another goalscorer though if we lose Remy.

CA is 9/1 to be top scorer remy 10/1 Rhodes fave at 8/1 nice to see 2 qpr players up there .. even if its only for awhile. may put 25cent ew on CA

This won't happen, but if by some miracle Remy plays a full season for us in the championship I will be very surprised if he isn't the top scorer by some margin.

Brilliant signing, the first time in a long while we have signed a striker who is in form, young, and has a good record.

BUT this doesnt mean Remy can go imo. If he does we are back to square one. Imo currently we need:

CB, 2x Wingers, ST

Oh and another CM covering for injuries to the other 25!

Just visited the official club website to catch up on all the Charlie Austin news - whether I'm on the home desktop PC, work or on a laptop the navigation of that website is awfully slow - you have to be really patient to allow the web pages to load.

At least his body is not adorned with all those awful tattoos that are so popular amongst players these days!

This is potentially a very important signing. DT mentioned a while back in another thread how important the next few weeks are before the transfer window shuts. Several clubs will be unsettled (including us) with loads of speculation surrounding players up to the last moment. The first 5-6 games during august will be really important and may well set the tone for our season. Loads of important points to play for in these games. Now we have a forward who can really score goals at this level and who may also make it at a higher one.
I was caught between two minds all summer whether I wanted yet another clear out or some much needed stability. I applaud TF for acknowledging his previous mistakes and doing his best to remove the mercenaries. IMO we have added a good balance of youth and experience to our squad. Austin and Simpson will undoubtedly bring down our average age and are players we can develop over the coming years. Dunne was IMO a great signing and the fact that his contract is performance based reduces any real risk. Henry still baffles me but he may bring a Derry like resilience to the centre of our midfield. By the time we sell Jenas, Barton and perhaps Diakite, we may actually need somebody like him in the middle. He could yet be an important signing. Remember 46 games plus cup games is a hell of a long season. An all hands on deck approach will be needed.
I still would like to see a young CB, two fast wingers and another CF arrive with Anton, Barton and Diakite leaving.
Onwards and upwards.

That is a great post Nuts.

This feels like the best signing of the last three years to me. It's just a gut feeling, but Austin looks and seems like a true Ranger in the making.

Potentially, the most critical signing for us for the season. The last two seasons, we have missed a sharp shooter big time. How many games did we only just lose after many failed attempts on goal or games that we drew, because we did not have a proper goal scorer. Can only hope he stays fit & happy .................... if he can do that, he'll score goals, we'll win games and so on.

Got to be happy with this. Tf has given us all exactly what we've be asking for..

Isnt it amazing how 1 good signing can change the mood of the board ?!

I'm even going to put some money on the plate, this Sunday morning at church ............. whilst I listen to Father Barry from the pews.

eh, sorry, I meant to say -

I'm even going to put some honey on the plate of toast this Sunday morning ............. whilst I listen to Father Harry and the team reviews.
