I know it was just a weekday round of the League Cup, but why such a horrible 6,129 attendance?

By comparison:-

"Massive" club Leeds managed 13,713 vs. Oxford Utd.
Villa vs. Tranmere 15,319
Norwich vs. S****horpe 13,116
Sunderland vs. Morecambe 22,871

I realize given the geography not many Walsall supporters, but why didn't more of our gang get off their duffs and get out there to support the team. If I could somehow have been beamed across the pond, I would have been more than glad to be there this evening cheering on our team!
 
£15 to get in plus travel plus the inevitable bite to eat and/or pint and you're suddenly not getting much change from £50. Money better spent on an away day, food or warmth.

Should have been free for season ticket holders with the option of putting a tenner towards QPR In The Community or whatever it's called.

We havent taken the competition seriously for years, Im not paying £55 including travel and run the risk of the players treating it like they have done in the past.
 
It was virtually sold out, with the seats that were available. It makes sense with a smallish crowd to have full areas, as opposed to people spread out all over the place. It created a better atmosphere...

£15 for what was basically a 'gel/bonding' exercise for the team and Man City away at the weekend?
I tried to get a couple of my QPR mates to go but they were not interested due to previous history in this cup.

For me
I would have made it £10 for adults and £1 for the kids.
 
As I recall Northolt recommended kids for a quid to TF but presumably that was vetoed. Norwich are very good at that kind of thing. It does make you wonder about the strategy required to grow QPR to be a major force as is the stated aim. No point in planning a bigger stadium of you can't grow the fan base to fill it.

Qpr used to do the tickets for a pound a good few years ago. They would send them round the schools to get kids interested in watching the R's. The problems they started getting though, was adults were snapping them up, pretending to take their kids, then selling them on for a higher price. It's always the problem when someone shows a bit of generosity, other people's greed.......

But don't you have to give a percentage of the gate money to the other club? If so that would make it hard to charge £1 as they would lose out.
 
I don't think the mood amongst Rs fans is good at the moment. If we'd won our first two games of the season I think more would have been there.
 
6 129 is both embarassing and worrying, especially when we are looking at a stadium for 40+ thousand! Only the League Cup sure, but we had players like Bopsingwa, Nelson and AJ all making debuts, Ale back after 8 months, and the other teams mentioned in the OP had much better gates than us against minnows.

I suspect this was the problem, they have to agree.
 
I suppose the recession, people being on holiday and the fact it's the 2nd round of the League Cup didn't appeal to many especially with tickets and travel to so many important fixtures.

If you get to the 4th round all of a sudden the total cost is about £100. Better to skip the earlier rounds and start going when the 3rd/4th gets under way.

During these times of economic hardship and price hikes you have to pick and choose your games

Weve been lied to by NW saying he will take it seriously only for it to be a total farce. I wasnt willing to take the risk again.
