PLEASE ONLY COMMENT ON THIS THREAD WITH QUERIES. PLEASE DON'T POST ENTRIES HERE AS THEY WILL BE DISREGARDED
If you would like to join in the attendance game, please see the sticky thread at the top of the page. New participants are welcome at any time [until some-one has been eliminated]
There may be some slight changes to the rules prior to the new season (we can't have you getting too comfortable can we?
). I will update this thread as and when necessary so keep an eye on this page before the competition re-opens
Attendance Game Rules
Your entry will consist of the six individual attendances for the six matches indicated.
Starting with 1 million points, your score will go down by the difference between your prediction and the actual attendance. However, nothing is as simple as it first looks……
In true “The Price Is Right” style, you can guess under, but not a penny over. If your guess is over the actual attendance the score for that match will be doubled.
PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT
Compulsory cards
You will play your Compulsory Cards on the FIRST week of each month
Joker Card. This affects your total and that of the player immediately above* you in the table. Their match score will be multiplied by the match number (x2 for match 1 & 2) and your score will be divided by the same number. Type a J after your chosen attendance.
Penalty Card. This only affects your score as it will multiply your score for that fixture, depending on your choice. If you play it on Match 1 or 2 it will be doubled. On match 3 it will be trebled, and so on. Type a P after your chosen attendance
Multi Card. This affects your fixture score and that of the person above* and below* you in the table. Both of theirs will be trebled and yours will be doubled. Type an M after your chosen attendance.
Gift Card. This will reduce the fixture scores of those above* and below* you and increase your own score. If you play it against match 1 or 2 their scores will be halved and yours doubled. If you play it on match 3 they will be divided/multiplied by 3 etc etc. Type a G after your chosen attendance
Zero Card. Your fixture score will be compared to those of the players above* and below* you. The one with the best score** will score zero. Type a Z after your chosen attendance
Get out of Jail Free - aka the Brucie Bonus . This will cancel out any cards that others have played against you for that fixture (so be careful not to play it on a fixture where some-one's given you a 'gift'! It will also be detrimental to you if a zero card has been played and you have the best score!). Type an F after your chosen attendance
You must play one card against each fixture
The Compulsory Cards are STATIC to the table position. E.G if you are 4th in the table on the first week of the month the cards will remain in 4th position and will not move with you if your position changes [this makes it a lot easier for my calculations so there
]
Optional Cards
Be sure you know what you are doing before you play these cards.
Double Dare. If you choose to do the Double Dare you will be up against the player immediately above* you in the table.
After compulsory cards have been taken into account the totals will be changed thus:
For the player of the Double-Dare; if you win your total is halved. If you lose it is doubled.
For the other player; if you win, you total is multiplied by 0.75. If you lose it is multiplied by 1.5
Type DOUBLE-DARE at the bottom of your entry.
Triple-Dare. Unlike the Double-Dare, this pits you against the players above* and below* you in the table.
For the player of the Triple-Dare; if you win, your total is divided by 3. If you are 2nd it is multiplied by 1.5 and if you are 3rd it is multiplied by 3
For the other players; if you win, your total is divided by 2. If you are 2nd it is multiplied by 1.25 and if you are 3rd it is multiplied by 1.75
Type TRIPLE-DARE at the bottom of your entry.
Grenade: This doubles the totals of those immediately above* and below* you in the table.
Type GRENADE after your entry
Cancel: This cancels all the compulsory card against you, and also the effect your card have on others. It basically changes all your compulsory cards to F Cards. The Cancel does NOT protect you from optional cards played against you.
Type Cancel after your entry.
You can only play one optional card on your weekly entry.
Each optional Card is available ONCE in each month
* If you are at the top of the table, the person "above you" is the person at the foot of the table and vice-versa.
** based on the fixture score before any other cards are taken into account
Postponements. If one of the featured fixtures is postponed, the fixture will be void and every-one will score zero for that fixture.
Deadline. The deadline for entries is 12 Noon on Saturday.
Early-Bird discount. As some players choose to see other entries and try and use it to their advantage, here is an incentive to post early in the week.
Post by Monday 12Noon [uk time] 30% ‘discount’ on your week’s total
Post afternoon Monday 20% discount
Post on Tuesday 10% discount
Post on Wednesday = no change
Post on Thursday = no change
Post on Friday 10% ‘Surcharge’ on your score
Post on Saturday 20% ‘Surcharge’ on your score
Discounts and surcharges are applied BEFORE taking Double/Triple-Dares into account. Therefore, if you are playing (or are subject to) a Double or Triple-Dare, it could be to your advantage to post early!
Due to the Early-Bird discount, all entries must be public and not sent by PM.
I MUST ACCEPT YOUR FIRST ANSWER - NO CHANGES. However, if there is an obvious mistake, eg you have forgotten to play a card or only posted 5 attendances, I will PM you so you can add the missing info
PENALTIES
Late Entries: As I always aim to pick Saturday 3pm kickoffs, late entries will be accepted, up to 3pm, but entries after 12 noon will carry a 50% surcharge instead of 20%.
Non-Runners. Any contestant who fails to post his attendances by 3pm will face a penalty of DOUBLE the worst total, so if you forget, you’d better pray that no-one has done the Double or Triple Dare on you!
Three strikes and your out
If there is a non-0runner on a card playing week, the cards will be deemed to have been played in alphabetical order.
Failure to play a compulsory card: If, for some strange reason, you fail to play your compulsory cards I will PM you with a reminder. Your discount will be accredited at the time of your completed entry. If they are not played then your discount will be zero and your weekly total will be doubled.
New Participants: Once the game is underway, new contestants may join, starting with a total of 99% (but a minimum of 2,500 adrift) of the bottom score. However, this is a “Last Man Standing” competition, so no new entrants will be permitted once some-one has run out of points (exception may be made if the elimination is due to 'non-runners')
SAFETY NET
In previous games some individials have suffered enormous scores due to a single match score, coupled with multiple cards and/or Dares. Therefore there will be a ceiling on individual match scores and week total scores, as follows:
Maximum match score, after card additions will be 30,000
Maximum week score, after optional cards will be 150,000
EXAMPLE ENTRY
28,336 M
35567 G
10,225 P
7,852 J
2,221 F
3,978 Z
DOUBLE DARE
