Uh huh.... So on the very limited facts available you have concluded And I could just repeat my previous post Thomas. You have made your mind up on very limited facts.
The fact they have decided to keep the facts very limited I feel supports my view. Claims of injustice usually come with a more complete tale of events.
The one thing that brings doubt into my mind was why it was plain clothes officers who were attacked. The whole of Dam square was jam packed with police in uniform, if I had of wanted to start a fight or a riot it would have been pretty easy - why punch the plain clothes guys when there are more obvious targets, unless you didn't know they were plain clothes cops?
So you know that they took a decision not to relay a full account of what happened do you? You know this for a fact do you? You know how much access to their son/brother/husband/dug the families had before releasing that statement? You know what they discussed and how long they had to discuss it? What is the title and first line of this thread Thomas? You posted that before that statement was out. Your mind was made up Thomas. In your mind this was a fait accompli. Chase your tail all you like, once again you jump in with your boots on. You may be right, but it is guesswork. Don't reach a conclusion and then try and find the evidence to support it.
Can I get a pat on the back for making the same point yesterday? I need a metaphorical pat. Not coo ****e.
Nobody on here has done that and I haven't seen anyone that has. All I have seen is people suggesting that the police testimony cannot be relied upon because of how they behaved.... Which Is true.
I knew what was in the statement asking for money, that's what I had a problem with! I have my opinion I believe I'm entitled to express it, stop trying to make some moral issue out of it. It was probably expressed in a less that thoughtful manner with jumped up statements of of condemnation but its a light hearted forum mainly and I wasn't anticipating battle for the highest horse. I'm done!
There was nothing in the statement I posted that asked for money. The request for money that you posted was just that.... A request. I'm not making it a moral issue. I'm making it a factual issue. You dispensed with fact from your first post and jumped straight to condemn on the strength of conjecture. It isn't the first time either Thomas. Of course you are entitled to express your opinion. You have chosen to form it and fastidiously stick to it despite conceding that you are basing that on limited facts. I am equally entitled to contest that and to wait and see the outcome of due process. Something to which everyone is entitled.
I'll tell you a fact, and I don't think it can be argued as I'm the only one to report it with no police reports or bias media outlets. On the Tuesday night as I walked out of the Ibis hotel at about 8pm there was a group of about 4 drunken Celtic supporters, probably in their late teens/early twenties, pushing bikes over in the bike stands - trying to create a domino effect of bikes falling over. Locals were walking past giving them dirty looks as they embarrassed themselves. Me and my pal shouted at them, told them to behave themselves, got a few dirty looks and they were on their drunken way. I said to my pal then that we'd be lucky to get through the few days without serious trouble - I've been other places where the cops have been a bit rough and the locals less than welcoming, and I've had the good sense to walk away. Even if some of the Celtic supporters who I met in Amsterdam did not start trouble themselves I could tell that quite a few of them wouldn't have the good sense to walk away from provocation, which is why I knew there would be trouble. My only surprise at the end of the trip was that there wasn't more trouble considering some of the arseholes I came across. Even if those cops did start it the people who got involved should have walked away - almost the entire Celtic support in Dam square did.
In my opinion the fact they were pain clothes coppers is quiet relevant. If you saw your mate taking a kicking from a guy wearing jeans and a jaiket, you would steam in. If you saw your mate taking a kicking from a copper you would not be happy but you would not steam in. At the moment though nobody knows what they have done wrong for sure and it does not sit easy with me. I have said before that some celtic fans acted like utter ****s that night but we don't know for sure it was these two. Even if it was I think it is deplorable that one of then had his teeth kicked in and his jaw broken (allegedly).
