I spent the first few years of the KC in the West stand, the Premier League years in the North, and splashed out this year on a season ticket in the East (level with our dugout). I'm personally not one to stand, shout and sing all the game, but if the game is good I will try my best to join in. My impression was that some fans try in the west but too many silent members of the prawn sandwich brigade leads to them stopping quickly, North was better for atmosphere as more 'proper' fans, but too close to the away fans and usually drowned out. For actually watching the game West beat the North as you would get a balanced view of the full game not just your end, so I would prefer West to North. East is by far the best as I can join if without feeling a tit, and still get a great view. I doubt I would move back to the North unless paying for a season ticket became an issue. Anyway, would the Police let the E1 and 2 fans be on the same block as the away fans - they wouldn't let the club sell any North stand tickets to home fans for the Leeds game.
The lack of atmosphere at the KC is a bit of a shame really, or should that be the lack of atmosphere is shameful and something needs to be done about it? Each to their own. The proposed changes will not affect me, but a better atmosphere would be nice.
Think alot of the problems come down to reserved seating. If adam does open up north stand make it un-reserved sitting with your mates makes a big diffrence.
Im in E1 and wouldn't want to move at all, I like to stand and sing and I love the banter we have with the away fans. I've sat in other stands previously but the atmosphere just doesn't match up to where i am now.
what atmosphere? After attending Scunny last week and enjoying singing for the majority of the match in the away end, I found myself surrounded by the familiar silence of the West Stand and every time I wanted to start a chant, i found myself paralysed knowing full well it wouldnt take off and id get someone telling me to be quiet as they're trying to concentrate on hearing Guzan shout, which is actually often audible embarrasingly.
For 90% of todays game, the whole stadium was silent. Why fans imply that this is the fault of the West Stand is beyond me. Today we were winning, there was a decent away following, and yet the so-called singing fans of the East Stand were stood in silence for the majority of the game. It has been like this all season, but I dont understand why!
The rest of the of the East Stand might join in when the NE corner started singing if they weren't so ******ed they thought that "How **** must you be, we're winning at home" was an appropriate song for a playoff chasing side with only 1 defeat in their last 16 games.
we need some ice hockey style music for when we score a goal.... also we need a band with drummers, in the east stand... maybe cheer leaders to get the fans singing....
