I sit in E7 and whilst the boisterous lads in E1 and E2 make plenty of noise it doesn't permeate along the length of the entire East Stand.

Some above me start their own Barmby Army thing, whist the southeast corner can also be pretty vocal and sometimes it spreads but the whole effect is so bl**dy disjointed.

Modern stadia for you I'm afraid - as Proud Fox says its the same everywhere. Even saw the so called volatile Geordies and Scousers sat on their hands for long spells of their games on the TV last weekend.

Also, the fact that many supporters are, dare I say, from higher income groups these days than they used to be, makes them less willing to express themselves publicly ins upport of their team than the lads from the Kempton and Bunkers used to.

It is nearly impossible to create the same atmosphere in a 25,000 seater stadium as that of an 8,000 capacity terraced stadium. When we were in the Kempton, the "singers" could move where they wanted so that everybody who wanted to sing could stand together. The Kempton singers will be spread out all over the KC now

I have been wanting to invent an -ist for some time, so here we go. That is a very wealthist comment.

Of course the away support is going to sound better, it is the Tiger Army who are all together away from home, like other people have pointed out those supporters who sing are probably spread more around the stadium so it is not noticeable. I suppose I am a so called "plastic supporter" because I don't sing. It doesn't mean I don't get behind the team and shout encouragement and clap and cheer etc. I don't think the atmosphere is that bad, yes the crowd were quieter when we went down 2 0 but isn't that to be expected. When someone made a good move or had a shot on goal the crowd volume went up again. If we were top of the league and had masses of confidence in the team it might be different but arn't we holding our breath and biting our nails for most of the game. I sit in the East Stand about centrally and I can honestly say I did not hear anyone having a go at players last night, everyone encouraged the team in their own way, some joining in with the singing and others not but we all pay our money to watch the team, we all want them to do well and that makes us just as good a supporter as those who want to sing all through the match.

INDEED. Only when the home teams score or the ref. gets is wrong do you ver hear any noise from home supporters.

Its a shame that they dont do away season tickets instead of home ones. Away games are much more fun and noisy. Your not alone though in what you posted.

I'm in the West Stand, and it seems that every person I talk to who is also in the West wants to sing, but doesn't. It's got to the point where no one sings because they don't want to look like a twat by themselves.

Anyway, this is my last season pass for a few years, off to Sunderland (where I get occasional free tickets to see their ****ty team <laugh>)
When I return (if, that is, I return to Hull) I'll be moving to the East Stand.

As for the atmosphere, see my comment about never taking any action on Ricardo's 'The Pitch' thread. We know the problems we have but we don't try to do anything about it. All the club want to do at the moment is cut costs everywhere but they hardly try to do anything to sort out things like this. We've talked about moving the away fans like everyone else does, that was over a year ago, why does it take so long to implement it?

Spot on Premier, nothing gets done, it's got to the point where this thread crops up every now and then like Ricardos version too, and the same thing will come up again and nothing will have changed.

Enjoy. It would take more than Free tickets to get me to go and watch Slumberland every other week.

The atmosphere was particularly bad last night, not helped by an early own goal, but it seems to be getting worse all the time.

As for the west stand bashing, it's ****ing pathetic, every ground has corporate areas and blaming those areas for a **** atmosphere in the entire ground is just a piss poor attempt at deflection. They're only keeping the noise down so the away manager can hear me anyway. :emoticon-0110-tongu

The noise issue @ the KC is the same at most grounds. As for the west stand it gets silly when you are shusshed from being vocal. Many in there think its the ballet or opera for some reason. <whistle>

I've never seen this. I think the situation J-D described is more accurate.

It was a sarcastic note for people in there who take a dim view of fans making noise.

But that's what I've never seen. Don't worry, I didn't actually think you were of the opinion that some West Stand fans genuinely believe they are attending a ballet.

The disjointed atmosphere comment is the one I agree with. They are either singing a completely different song, or end up singing the same song but out of time with each other. Theres one buffoon behind me who never seems to be in time with either sit of supporters (and I sit between E1/E2 and the middle of the stand).

Do what they do in America and play crowd music into the stadium <whistle>
