A mate of mine told me he stood up and tried to get a couple of chants going with his mate, and an old woman tapped him on the soldier and asked him to "sit down, as she was trying to watch the game" He's not been back since.
That's never been the case with those I've seen at OT. But, let me guess, even Leeds' Chinese fans are better than United's Chinese fans. Let's just save time and assume that EVERYTHING about LUFC is better than it is at MUFC. Whenever something like this happens MUST do cause a stink. When it comes to fan protest, United fans tend to make a noise. You've already mentioned FC United yourself (which I don't agree with) but a less extreme but still well-publicised and popular example was the Green and Gold movement. I doubt any of Leeds' anti- Bates protests received the same attention as G + G. It's funny how you only mention the stories that make our support look disinterested and subservient. It's almost as if you want people to see us in the worst possible light...
QPR V Chelsea 23rd October, now that was a good atmosphere And in modern times, the massive teams suffer, it's the same for all of them
Worth noting that a big reason for the poor atmosphere yesterday was that we played absolutely ****e. Hard to get excited when we're being that useless. Also, the PL have done everything they can to kill the atmosphere - hardcore fans can't stand and chant anymore cos other clubs will use that as an excuse to cut our allocations.
If you want atmosphere, try St Marys on 7th April. It will be loud, it will be raucous, it will be a little hostile (in a good way).
Parkhead on a european night is different gravy from anywhere in Britain, and up with the best of Europe, just ask Maldini.
del piero was just being nice, old trafford is a ghost town even on european nights, got to be the worst fans ever bunch a chinky glory hunters
this when they played us, heard about 4 manc accents and the rest were london only live round the corner ye ****s
Bugger off, I was being diplomatic! Trying to say I'm sure you have some Oriental fans who are quite passionate too, it's just that they are invisible in the huge crowds of daytrippers your club block-allocates tickets to. It didn't receive the same attention in the media for obvious reasons, but had far more of an effect on the club itself. We now get transfer fees disclosed in full where they were unaccountable before. We now have Neil Warnock as manager instead of Neil Redfearn who the club were grooming before there was a mass demonstration. The club are now trying to build bridges with the fans by cutting prices on merchandise, doing offers and freezing season ticket prices. They even had a fan conference recently to hear our concerns for the first time under Bates. There's still a long way to go, but we've achieved far more than a few colourful scarves and shirts ever did. Let's be fair here. Your home support has been shafted, and your away support's starting to get it as well. I've known probably 10 Man U season ticket holders over the last few years and none of them like the way Old Trafford has gone. But what do they do? Just natter. I think Arsenal, Chelsea and several others are more passionless than your fans, but at least you can understand that they're Southern ponces and they will act as such. I thought the Mancs had more guts, not just the bravado.
Touchy subject I know but all seater stadia has ruined atmosphere at football. I yearn to hear the old classics like "You're Going Home In A ****in Ambulance" and "I do like to be beside the seaside, I do like to be beside the sea, oh I do like to walk along the prom, prom, prom, where the brass bands play **** off West Brom, **** Off West Brom, **** off West Brom............................................"
It's an admirable sentiment, but when has an ambulance ever dropped someone off at home, except for the Alzheimer's Express you sometimes see chuntering around the suburbs?
The one thing I'm glad about when it comes to our recent problems is that we've missed out on the camera carrying day trip brigade, and I don't think that's racist at all. I don't want a bunch of Malaysian supporters who are ready to swap their shirts for Barcelona ones at a moment's notice.
Maldini was just being nice too. Fellow papes and all that United's away support is the biggest and best in England, has been since the 70s
Forgive me, but I didn't think diplomacy was your thing, what with the Munich taunts on the anniversary and everything. Or maybe your board are easier to get to than ours. The fact the Glazers live on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, and they know that OT will always be full means they don't tend to listen. Even when a section of the support forms another team they're not interested. So what have the valiant lot at Leeds actually done that United's fans haven't? At least we don't interfere with livestock.
Whereas you're a bunch of innocent souls who would never chant about the stabbing of 2 opposition fans.
