I saw someone posting on the DM page last week that Rooney wouldn't get in the Bilbao team, after he had just scored twice against them. ABUs
Also worth pointing out Bilbao had a **** start to the season - two points from their first five games whereas Valenica got 10. Since those five games, Bilbao have had a better set of results than Valencia, although admittedly not like much. Of course, it could just be that their high tempo pressing approach leaves them knackered for half of their games, so they play much better in the bigger games than the smaller ones, like the did against Osasuna at the weekend. Tho' if that's true then they are putting the EL ahead of a possible CL place next year so fair play to them.
I think the fact that they play United, 3 recent finals adds a bit of gloss. When we won it a few years ago putting out Barca and a crazy final, it was a memorable few games, playing Celtic were also good matches, it can be as bad as it can be good the EL
The timing of the EL final is a tad bizarre too. Its scheduled to take place before the PL season is over
Yeah, all the more reason for us to now hope City win tonight. May as well give them a further distraction, eh?
United schooled in football by Spain's 7th best team. Everyone 's seen it, everyone knows it, everyone's saying it.
good spectacle, especially for myself. Would not like to play them on that form, they did liook tired at the end there a bit.
Some people have no idea. Man utd lost to bilboa. It happens. They deserved their win but it doesnt mean they are even close to man utd. Over the course of a season there would be no contest. This is cup football after all. 1 poor game and you are out. In fact a few mistakes and you are out. Man utd lost 3-2 at home to blackburn too. And nobody would argue blackburn are better than man utd or that yakuba is better than rooney. Some people say things like this because they dont understand that nothing is 100% in football. Even barca have lost to poor sides this year. Doesnt mean they are worse than them.
