If you wiped the minds of everyone on the planet of all references to religion from cave paintings to the Vatican I would guarantee that there would be a minimum of 100 new religions within a week. It is part of human nature to wonder why and if there isn't a readily explained answer available then it is attributed to the devine. Skeptics like myself pour a fair amount of scorn on the beliefs of others especially when the retort to any dismissal of belief is "well you explain it all then". I have no explanation other than mankind's readiness to ignore the obvious and put faith in the mysterious. It is easy poking fun at religion and as pointless as shooting fish in a barrel. If you go to bed at night all warm and cosy in the belief that your maker or your prophet is looking down on you then why not? Not for me, I'm a happy heretic.

So atheists are bigots because they believe that theists are wrong? Doesn't that make all theists bigots too, because they not only believe that atheists are wrong, but the majority of other theists are as well? As for looking down noses, most faiths say that if you don't agree with them then you're going to be tortured for all eternity. I'd say that's a little judgemental, wouldn't you?

Yes they do as they are the first to ask for 'proof' yet offer nothing in return. They like being smug etc but ask an athiest for his/her beliefs and then ask for 100% absolute truth. Their answers are more ludicrous than the tooth fairy/santa and the easter bunny. ask an athiest why he/she celebrates christmas. They will get all uppitty and say 'its not jesus, its all about X Y and Z'
And which one of us prays five times a day and has virtually every part of his life dictated to him by an ancient creed? That's obsession. Your failure to accept that people don't believe in god/s is down to you. Don't try to force it upon others.
