so what you are saying is

1 - she isnt an ammbassador

2- she in her role as defender of the faith and by the grace of God has duties

as for the acts of parliament, are these that have to go to the house of lords to be assessed then get royal assent?

you know the house of lords with the 26 church of england bishops and archbishops

so an act of parliament has to go to 2 heads of teh church of england in essence to get passed

that being by the by though, do you not grasp that the queen is in essence a religious institution? I am sure the Archbishop of Canterbury does 'other' duties will you be celebrating him too?

See, i did say facts become irrelevant when dealing with religious types. I think the entire post above mine is incorrect.

Firstly I am not anti those things, but lets accept it for a moment

I follow Islam, so if Islam says wrong I say wrong and refrain. If Islam says good ...... you get it

Now Islam doesnt prevent me from following/supporting etc. As i have explained to you before. I used to abstain from buying goods from Israel. Until I read the ruling (HUKM) on this. It pointed out I was wrong. Now no issue

so good try, but no cigar

No I am not saying that at all, I am sure they do

You dont know enough about religion to decide if it is a lie or not, if this place is anything to go by

I am saying those I mentioned have lied

Loving the clutching at straws, too funny <laugh>

No, what I AM SAYING, is that she can be lauded for her services to her country by both non-atheists and aetheists, don't you agree? Her duties to Great Britain and to her religious duties are not instrinsically linked, can't you see this? Am I right, or am I not wrong?

When she is walking down the road shaking hands with us mere commoners, is religion involved? When she is chatting to the people at the Epsom Derby, is religion involved? When she is abroad representing the U.K, is religion involved?

Of course they are intrinsically linked dopey.

The jubilee is a celebration of the queen coming to the throne

a throne she sat on by the grace of god as defender of the faith, after taking an oath with/from the archbishop

    she is a religious institution.

Our local mosque sent people to Iraq etc will you be celebrating the mosques anniversary?

Why would I, as an Atheist, celebrate the duties carried out by a believer who isn't either the Head of State nor the Head of the Nation of which I belong? <doh>

You are incredibly thick, seriously. You're bordering on uber mong status <ok>

Both the queen and the archbishop carry out their duties in the name of the same god

If you look at the queens speach 2012 her ending note was

'my lords and members of the house of commons I pray that the blessing of almighty god rest upon your councils'

She does everything in the name of almighty god, EVERYTHING

    her anthem is

    God save our........

Is the Archbishop of Canterbury the Head of State? No? Ok, perhaps he is the Head of the Nation? No?

Does the Archibishop carry out these roles when he is abroad visiting other Heads of State? No? Perhaps he does it as the Head of the Nation? No?

    What you mean he isn't / doesn't?

Does he represent me, as a non-believer? That's right, he doesn't.

Will I be celebrating his 60 years as the Head of State? Oh, that's right, he isn't.

Will I be celebrating his 60 years as the Head of the Nation? Oh, that's right, he isn't.

Will I, as a non-believer be celebrating the Queen's tenure as Head of State and Head of the Nation? Yes I will.

    You lose, again <ok>

keep digging son, you were given enough rope to hang yourself with and you obliged
both fulfill their duties by giving thanks to God, as evidenced by the closing line from the Queens 2012 speech

    I own you

By the way, you never did answer this...shockeroonie...

Why, would I as a non believer celebrate the duties carried out by a believer who is neither the Head of State or Head of the Nation to which I belong?

    In your own time...

But what exactly does this have to do with the Queen of England carrying out her role as the Head of State or Head of Nation? Does she thank God when she is walking around Ascot shaking the hands of the racegoers? Does she thank God when she is abroad representing Great Britain? Does she thank God when she is visiting the elderly in hospital?

Will I, an atheist, be celebrating her role as a fine representative of Great Britain? Yes I will. Do I or the millions of others really care about her religious obligations? Not one bit.

    Your point is therefore?
