How is it hypocrisy? I've already said a billion times (thats what it feels like) that i'm celebrating her reign as an ambassador for the UK, a global figurehead for the country and commonwealth in general, not the church of england.
wrong, she is defender of the faith and the monarchy has been since the 16th century The defender of realsm bit is for places like australia etc The latin is Fidei defensor. and that is what the FD or fid etc on coins represents
who by 'the grace of god' happens to be 'defender of the faith'. dress it up as you like. She is a religious figure head in this country especially. Its like saying hitler had good points so we will celebrate those
The most prominent atheists tend to be intellectuals and the most prominent intellectuals tend to be Republicans, as in the case of the late great Christopher Hitchens
Possibly the worst ever analogy (in the context of the debate) which I have EVER read You really are one of the BIGGEST dullards I've ever had the misfortune to come across. Intelligence evaded you BIG TIME
They are certainly not hypocrites if they are republican, and especially if they dont celebrate the jubilee Hitchens was a dick though, there was never any substance to his arguments. He basically tried to dazzle with his vocabulary basically spoke a lot, used big words but said very little. and boy did he lose it if you challneged him and proved him wrong same with dawkins
Like kyle said, she represents our country overseas, her main role in my opinion. She's head of the COE but Charles recently refered to "defender of the faiths". She serves your country and defends your faith.
yet here you are again so you celebrate 2 religious 'institutions' believing religion is wrong and that analogy is the worst thing you have heard?
You don't have the mental capacity to comprehend that there are people who don't give a ****ing ****e about her religious roles, but instead, will be celebrating her role as a tremendous ambassador for Great Britain. Like I said, you are an utter dullard
Fan, I think it is possible to separate Lizzies role as Defender of the Faith/Head of the Church of England and her role as monarch. When folk say "Thank God its Friday" I don't think they are actually thanking God for it being Friday. I don't think they are particularly troubled by thanking the God of a monotheistic faith for the arrival of a day named to honour of a polytheistic figure. It is just some **** people say. In the same way, folk don't have to care about the role of defender of the faith to care for the monarchy. The two may be inextricably linked but they don't have to be interdependent.
Webel, I was pondering the other day whether there was any relationship between the word friday and the tradition of frying fish on friday, not really believing that but i've heard it said before. Thanks to you just looked it up and found it stands for "the day of frigg" after the godess frigg, made me chuckle.
Explain exactly why it is hypocritical for Atheists to celebrate the fantastic role the Queen has played as an ambassador for the U.K over the years? Have you not got the mental capacity to realise that she has many roles as the Queen? As I said, you are one seriously dense person. An ex-teacher too
I had no idea that is how it was spelt <embarrassed> I had only heard is said before and those who said it must have purposefully annunciated it differently to stop me from laughing. Same with the planets. When did your anus become your-ah-nus?
keep laughing ****wit technically the queen is not an ambassador, she appoints them face it you celebrate all things religious
Yes they are all dicks because their reason and belief in the scientific method doesn't at all come to peace with your voodoo
Nah, knew you couldn't explain why it is hypocritical you ****ing mong Shame there isn't a full moon tonight for you to **** off and howl at
