    swim,re your post No.87.

Thanks for smiley assistance. It is very frustrating not being able to produce a smiley to order. It works fine when e mailing. I will persevere.

Your blessings are much appreciated, and I'm really sorry if you thought I was "labelling" you.

I'm sure the sticky will be unstickied very soon, and I know you weren't being "personal". Neither was I.

I have this a.m. sent a PM to Dreyfus apologising unreservedly for having overreacted to one of his posts yesterday.

I would like to extend that apology to any of my fellow posters who may have found my response disproportionate.

One Swans poster said he may look for a new Swansea forum to join to which Ash asked him to let him know if he found one. Nothing wrong with that,

My point exactly that most point of views from Atheist tend to be Anti-religion instead of pro Atheism and when your point is laughing and calling for other peoples beliefs to be banned its not that interesting. I cant see how i ridicule myself for being a Christian, and as for ramming opinions down peoples throats i would never start a thread on why people who dont support my religion should be ridiculed. Like i said a lot of my closest friends are Atheists and thats fine, some have brought me books explaining why Religion is false but i would never bring a Bible to their houses for them to read.

This is exactly the same as i feel. i know i am christian because of where i was born and I also know that a book made 2000 years ago doesnt reflect life today. It also interests me how Religion evolves from one to another over time, take all the Abrahamic religions for example but i still have faith and believe in something more than this. I personally feel really offended by a lot of comments because they are basically telling me how stupid i am as a person for being religious in anyway and that most problems in this world are caused by me personally. I guess every football fan must also be a scummy hooligan with no respect for other people or property too then. I have read books like the god delusion by Dawkins and enjoyed them. I enjoy Darwin and any talk about Evolution, I hate any type of extremism and respect other people and their opinions but so far in this thread there have been zero good points or discussion for Atheism just slagging off and dissing anyone with any belief which is clearly racism and being done openly. When i first looked in this thread i expected some talk about evolution, maybe a in depth discussion on whether the human eye could possibly be made through evolution or whether it proves god exists but instead it is clearly a anti-religion racist thread.

Musty - why breach the rules and risk a ban? What have I done to you? <doh> Calling me odd takes the biscuit. Nobody here knows what the **** you're on about most of the time. <laugh>

Dai's situation is about free speech. I agree he talks bollocks most of the time but as long as he abides by the rules of the forum he should be allowed to say what he likes. Similarly I've got absolutely no problem with people believing what they want to believe. Those freedoms have been hard won. But that also gives me the freedom to say I believe they're wrong and to set out why. No drama. No double standards. Like I said, people think religion is a taboo subject, and that particular religions are above criticism. This should stop.

I can understand why people say Atheism is becoming a religion and it's a valid observation. But it's wrong. Atheists don't worship anyone even though we as a group have well-known spokesmen like Stephen Fry, Eddie Izzard, Richard Dawkins, Laurence Krauss, Amon Ra and so on. But we don't 'worship' them. We agree with them.

I don't go to a place of worship and follow no rituals, though I accept that's probably just like you, Swim. I suppose you could say I've got faith in no faith but that's just a belief isn't it? I started my journey with an open mind. I read a lot on the subject and I found myself convinced by the Atheistic arguments but not in the least by the religious ones which bordered at times on wacky. Just my opinion.

Live and let live but be prepared to have your religion (or non religion) criticised. I'm happy to bat away criticism of Atheism and that's the way it should be.

I think there is no point in putting someone down for their beliefs, it just insights hate and conflict if everyone respects each others beliefs, then no one can argue! Diversity is what makes the world an interesting place! Imagine everyone believed in one thing think how boring life would be. Anyone who thinks its ok to throw their beliefs/non beliefs down people's necks are utter w.....s and need to have a long hard look at themselves. I take pleasure in listening to other people's culture and religion and would never think my personal beliefs makes me above them.

Morgan in regards to your post above, you say you want this that and the other, yet it was you, in post number 5 of this topic, who was also insulting. By claiming atheists dont have an opinion, so why is you you are crying over something, yet are doing the exact same yourself, talk about double standards.

So explain to me why you are any different to the people you say are bordering racism, insulting and the like, your no different at all. So get down off that high horse. Or is it like anything that seems to happen these days, you dis religion, and your in the wrong, you dis a non religion, and its alright. And people wonder why many hate religion, because you think you are better. Yet you complain if we want to take the moral high ground that we are trying to be better. Its hypocrisy all the time.

I won't put down people for being religious, I won't laugh at them, I won't pity them, or anything like that, as its a choice that they make, however, I don't agree with religion shouldn't be criticized. I do however draw the line of picking on someone cos they are religious, I just criticize what they believe in. If that makes any sense. So its not a personal attack. Again if that makes sense.

When i get knobs knocking on my door asking me about religion, i tell them im atheist, and they try and preach to me about god, then they can expect me to criticize what they believe in. When I can walk out my front door and not have to listen to people telling me to be religious, or bloody muslims driving about preaching about their believes on their bloody speaker phone, then I will consider not criticizing religion. Religion pisses me off, but we say anything about religion, oh no mr bad man, your racist. But we can have it shoved down our throats at every turn and thats alright?
