At the game

So far everything NA has tried to do to reduce the amount of goals conceded has failed i'm certain he must have a plan F and hopefully that will work. I have faith in NA i just question some of his decisions like playing richardson who is no where near good enough and moving Clyne to LB he's a kid in his first season in the prem and we play him out of position in a team thats shipping in goals. I hope plan F moves clyne back on the right and richardson back on the bench. Here's hoping we score 4 on sunday cause its the only way we can win in this league.

I disagree with your statement. The idea to move Clyne to LB and bring on Richardson worked absolute wonders against Villa- it looked like we had a completely different defence. But hey, I see your point, it didn't work against Everton but I think it is important to bear in mind that they are second in the league and in absolutely cracking form.

It worked against villa cause the whole team played better, i have said on a previous post that the way we play we will never battle to get a result we have to play our best to get a result and we did that second half against villa, I was at everton on saturday and we didn't play bad we were just very naive in our approach, the 3 goals we conceded were shockers especially the second one. I'm not saying it was richardsons fault i'm just saying he causes himself alot of problems by losing the ball and looking like a girrafe on ice when under pressure. If we are going to carry on playing the passing game then we have to play our players in there correct positions as they are not good enough or confident enough (yet) to play out of position.

I wasn't at the game on Saturday. It surprises me that you describe Richardson as a 'giraffe'- I thought he was always very assured last season.
From listening to Solent it sounded like we played very narrowly and that the full backs didn't get enough support from midfield. I did wonder if Rodriguez or Ramirez had put their chances away whether it would have been a completely different game.

Yes, would have been 3.3:grin: Yes, I know goals change games, but suspect we are as poor at defending 3 goals as one against a team on form like Everton. It will be results against lower sides that determine how this season pans out.

It would be nice to keep a clean sheet at some point though. I wonder whether this will happen or not?

The main thing is our defence had to endure the best the championship could offer last year , the premiership is a whole new kettle of fish .
