If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

    Fastest ever red card (s)!

"Chippenham striker David Pratt was sent off just three seconds into a game against Bashley last month," says Jimmy Finn. "Does that qualify as the fastest sending off ever?"
Surprisingly it doesn't, Jimmy. Pratt was indeed reported (by this very website, among others) to have set a new record when he was dismissed for ploughing into Bashley's Chris Knowles after three seconds of Chippenham's 2-1 British Gas Business Premier defeat on December 27. We had all forgotten, however, about Cross Farm Park Celtic striker Lee Todd, who was sent off just two seconds into a game back in October 2000.
Where Pratt was sent off for a reckless challenge, Todd got his marching orders for foul language. Todd had his back to referee at the start of Cross Farm's Sunday league game against Taunton East Reach Wanderers, and was startled by the force with which the whistle was blown for kick-off. "**** me, that was loud," muttered Todd, and the referee promptly showed him the red card.
"I wasn't swearing at the ref or anyone else," protested Todd afterwards. "Anyone else would have done the same - he nearly blew my ear off." Manager Mark Heard was supportive. "Players should be sent off for swearing at the ref or a player," he added after his team won the game 11-2. "But referees are supposed to use a bit of common sense."
Previously, we discovered the record for the quickest dismissal at the beginning of a professional match was believed to have been held by Giuseppe Lorenzo of the Italian club Bologna, who was sent off after 10 seconds in 1990 for hitting a Parma player. And then there are the substitutes. Sheffield United's Keith Gillespie was technically sent off after zero seconds during a Premier League game against Reading in January 2007, but that was after he had come on as a substitute. After replacing Derek Geary early in the second half, Gillespie elbowed Stephen Hunt in the face and duly saw red before the game had even been restarted. Walter Boyd achieved a similar feat whilst at Swansea, earning himself a dismissal before play had resumed when he was brought on as a substitute by Swansea during a game against Darlington back in 2000.

Woman in Birmingham jailed after making 'loud sex noises'

A woman who breached a court order that barred her from making "loud sex noises" has been jailed.
Gemma Wale, of Small Heath, Birmingham, was given a two-week prison sentence.
A civil court judge concluded she had breached an anti-social behaviour order by "screaming and shouting whilst having sex" at a "level of noise" that annoyed a neighbour.
The details emerged in a written ruling by Judge Emma Kelly following a hearing in Birmingham County Court.
Birmingham City Council took legal action after a neighbour complained.
    'Screaming and shouting'
The judge did not give Miss Wale's age in her ruling but said she had a boyfriend called Wayne.
Judge Kelly said she had also breached the order by arguing with her boyfriend, swearing at a neighbour, "banging around the house" and "running around in the property".
She said a neighbour had complained "paragraph 3 of the order" had been breached at about 05:00 on 29 January.
"Gemma started screaming and shouting whilst having sex, which woke us up," said the neighbour. "This lasted 10 minutes."
The judge concluded: "I am satisfied that during the course of the early hours of 29 January 2015, at around 5am, the defendant was guilty of screaming and shouting whilst having sex at a level of noise which caused nuisance or annoyance to (a neighbour)."

One dog endures the elements to ensure his friend survives

Friday, September 18, 2015, 10:58 AM - Tillie the dog is being praised for her loyalty to friend Phoebe in this happy tale of two lost pups.

The setter and basset hound, both from Washington, were lost for a week, according to nonprofit animal rescue organization Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP).

The basset hound, Phoebe, was trapped in a concrete well deep in a ravine and was unable to climb out. Tillie stayed by Phoebe's side for the week, occasionally leaving each day for a period of time to find help. On September 14, Vashon received a tip from a nearby resident.

"Today we received a call from a community member reporting that for the past few days a 'reddish' dog had been coming up to them when they were out on their property and then promptly heading back into a ravine," the organization posted on Facebook. "So with a needle in the haystack hope we made our way into the ravine and after a bit of searching, finally heard that sweet sound we have been waiting for all week."

In another heroic tale, an Air Canada pilot recently diverted a flight to save a dog from freezing.

The VIPP volunteers found Phoebe resting on some concrete rubble that was holding her out of the water.

Although they were cold and hungry, both dogs are in good health, USA Today reports.

"A true friend and a humbling example of the power of love," the Facebook post read.
