By the way, I heard that the lad who came on in defence was the one who was sent off a couple of weeks ago in a U21 game. If that is right I am more than a little bit surprised he wasn't suspended.

 

There was a big interview with Lovren in the Sunday Times today, but all I could hear was my internal monologue going "twat twat twat" as I read it, so I couldn't tell you what it said.

 

Oh my! One would be nice! I can't understand why we don't do that.

 

We've needed to do that since Adkins. Whether it's Chambo or Puncheon or Jay or Mane, it's not like we haven't had a quick lad available to us to leave up top. At best, it allows us to score on the counter. At worst, it draws some opponents away from our penalty box. (And besides, Mane scares me when he tries to play his way out of our penalty box, having come back to defend)

Obviously there's logic in bringing the likes of Rickie and Pelle back to defend corners.

Absolutely. We always have goals in us, even though we don't have a Sergio Aguerro or a Harry Kane; we don't often fail to score. When we keep clean sheets, we usually win.

I still think there can be a good defender in there and I like him going forward, and whilst I'm sure all clubs or fans of at least, like to think they improve players, we do have an uncanny knack of doing it consistently, Juanmi aside...
