I think we're controlling the game ok, just need to keep getting good balls into Riviere. Colback and Williamson look solid and Sissoko is actually involved for once

How many more years before Pardew realises floating every set piece at Williamson doesn't work

    At least we haven't conceded.

I'd personally bring on Haidara on for Dummett and De Jong on for Colback. We can't take off Sissoko we need his presence.

I must be watching a different game. I think we're the better team, we've created chances and some of our link up play has been brilliant. It's stating the bleeding obvious, but we need a goal. I think once we get one then one or two players will relax a bit and we should get more fluent. Considering how many players we've brought in I am encouraged by how well the players are linking up. There are still some passes and movement where clearly one player didn't know where another one was passing or moving to. You can't sign new players and not expect that tho.

Defensively we have looked good - most of the time. Most of the time isn't good enough tho.

Thank Thor it's half-time. It'll be more fun giving myself a clyster with a rusty wire and Obi's jar of aromatic-lube, than watching the second half, I think.

Cabella is being compared to Ben Arfa... Yeah, Cabella is like Ben Arfa. If Ben Arfa was skinny and bereft of footballing talent. Bring back fatty, all is forgiven!!!

We've been shakey, but we've had the best chances. We should really be 2-0 up.

Why would you bring Haidara on? He should have started, but what's the point in swapping left backs?

Meh... We play it up to the box alright, then fall to pieces after that, like the players suddenly become agoraphobic in the opposition's area.

Because Dummett is **** and Haidara isn't, and Haidara goes forward a lot better and can actually whip in a half decent ball.

They are two completely different players who do different jobs in the team. Haidara is much much better going forward, and is far more likely to create chances. bringing Haidara on changes the dynamic of how Aston Villa have to play down their right, and could stop Nzogbia pushing forward so much.

That said, while he is better going forward, Dummett is more reliable at the back than Haidara. Dummett had a moment in that first half when he made a mistake in the centre-back position while in posession of the ball, but for covering and defending in general he is better than Haidara. Bringing Haidara on might give us more attacking chances, but its a risk as it could also give Villa more attacking chances.
