Not coutinho in terms of most talented?

For me if both lads are the best we've got fine they should move up next year but if we actually got our act together and signed a cm and striker then they could be very very good players where they are if they put their all into it rather than being benched... Then again we prob won't get our act together so for now they are doing well wasted or no

Sorry but we must at least give the lad a chance to prove himself in a scenario where we've a proper 11 men working on the pitch

Skertl and lovern point is well made here though... Can is doing well and learning his positioning better each week

What we can say is from the past 10 games the evidence suggests sahko is the no 1 pick and after that we will see I like can markovic Henderson right side triangle.. Add sterling to that too further up

I'd agree that lallana and coutinho look to be competing for left side berth overall. There is a but of flexibility there however for either to play right side too which is good

For me lallana is well behind coutinho currently so once coutinho keeps the levels high he is my pick

When sturridge gets back it's going to be interesting

Well it's an option though I'm not saying it should be our default
I'd say Coutinho is ahead, but slightly different. I'd back Coutinho to create a better chance than Lallana, but if a chance fell to one of them I'd prefer it was Lallana

Coutinho has realised a lot of his potential but for me, Marko has a higher ceiling of potential. Whether he reaches that potential is another question.

Agreed though - we need proper midfielders and a strikee to supplement them.

Coutinho is twice the player Lallana is, despite being only 22 and Lallana in his prime.

Coutinho has far more substance to his game whereas Lallana is mostly style. I fear Lallana is overhyped because he's an Englishman who can play a bit and he works hard.

Not sure, Lovren has always been an average defender including his time at Soton.

Sakho didn't have 11 working men in front of him but his individual performances were still brilliant. One example was in the cup when Lovren was getting roasted down the left hand side and was hooked at half time. Sakho came on and literally nothing came down his side.

Combined with the fact that Moreno looks more comfortable playing next to Sakho than Lovren.

Lovren's position is LCB. Defenders cannot switch sides - it's not as easy as everyone thinks. Sakho is THE LCB so i can't see Lovren in this defence. Rodgers can keep putting him on the RCB but Rodgers is clueless when it comes to the defence. What he should have done is spunked £20m on a right sided defender to replace Skrtel and partner Sakho.

Seems a bit of a hatchet job on lovern <whistle>

With 30 mil in the joke we have to at least try to get him into our system

It'd be quite remiss if sahko does another long injury to have lovern completely in the cold... Plus it'd be at least required to see if the guy has any sort of brain and learned anything from watching us play this system

Finally in this system Skertl or lovern? That is the question not sahko

they are awful at home usually...

I agree... they only seem to really do us over at anfield cos they set up dep and bit on the break and set piece..... saturday their set peice conversion was awful. they had lots of chances, none on target thankfully. any one on target is prob a goal the way we defend.

  12. I actually think Coutinho and Lallana compliment each other really well. Coutinho is the better and more skillful attacker but Lallana will offer more defensively. Its a similar position to FB when people say we should have both a defensive and attack minded player competing for a place.

I don't agree that they are competing for the left sided spot. Brod has always maintained he likes versatile players and these two are no different. Both can play the AM role plus Coutinho can play deeper as well.

Someone said it would be interesting when Sturridge returns, why...? Surely he'll just replace Borini and we'll be less likely to see Balotelli and / or Lambert too...? The rest of the squad / team will continue in the same way.
