He is but I think it's a good position for him to develop and get used to the English game. At the moment, he will get to their 18 yard box and not dribble/take on defenders - maybe lack of confidence? But from a wing back position, he will have space to run into and he can use his pace to run 20-30 yards up the pitch, and then give it to one of the attackers. And his defensive ability and work rate have really impressed me.

Why is he wasted? Think of alves or cafu Why can't we turn a good re into a great wing back? Why not? He's showing he has a brain in being able to defend a bit isn't he? In the end the waste is 20 mil on a guy who won't play if sterling and lallana are the bosses choice with sturridge never mind coutinho! This way both can and markovic get first team experience in the prem and as young men can maybe next season be vital players for us potentially even in their favored roles But if not having a pair at rcb and rwb who are very good on the ball who are 21 or less and cost combined 35 mil ain't bad when our lcb and Lwb also look decent are young and also cost 29/30 mil combined That's the reality these days isn't it....

Because we're on a good run atm and would like more league games now to capitalise on this rather than be disrupted by cup games. Especially as they feature Chelsea where we could quite easily take a confidence knock. I would have preferred to face them in a month after winning a few more league games. We've got some huge league games coming up and it would be good to hit them in form and playing well.
Pleased with yesterday,three points and another clean sheet.Thought we did well after Villa made their substitutions and were pushing for an equaliser. With Benteke and Agbon they can trouble any defence on their day but I think we defended well.Sakho was excellent (again) and Skrt's was impressive in limiting Benteke in the air.Can very tidy and I thought Mign was fine bar the corner he came for and got nowhere near.Good save from Benteke at a crucial time.
Because he's an elite talent who made his name playing as an inside forward. The fact he can play wing back is an added bonus and shows his versatility. But personally, I think he's the most talented player on our books and will overtake Sterling. In the short run though - you're right. He's getting mins which is important. But I hope the wing back position isn't long term - same with Can at centre back.
Not sure if it's been mentioned a lot but our first goal was brilliant. Henderson's assist was top class, and Borini's movement and finish was quality as well.
I watched the game again and I thought Henderson was good. The concerning thing is that once Lucas and coutinho fatigue (around the 60 min mark), then we get overrun in midfield.
A fully fit Lallana can help rotate with Coutinho, and hopefully Can can help with Lucas once Lovren is rehabilitated and fit to play again (take the pressure off him to be the leader and let Sakho have that role)
Lovren will never be good enough for Liverpool. If we put him back into the defence, along with Skrtel, we then lose the calm and composure of Can to build attack from the back. All Lovren can do is pass sideways to Migs. When he and Skrtel were the pairing, they would pointlessly pass to one another and we didn;t get anywhere. We need to buy a RCB.
But if we're playing a back 3, then both Skrtel and Lovren are poor on the ball. Puts a lot of pressure on Sakho and it overloads the lefft hand side.
