Despite him not scoring I thought Suarez was superb again today, every time he got the ball the Villa fans I was with moved to the edge of their seats. On the ball today, pretty good.. When ever we picked up space we looked very threatening, although today proved what we all know - Crossing is absolutely pointless. Off the ball however highlights where we need to improve drastically - Our shape. And I really can't understand how we're caught out so often, over committing? Positioning? Pressing in the wrong places? All of the above? It's a really tough problem to sort out, Rodgers strength seem to be positioning with the ball and not without it. We also seem really poor at tackling, their are times to hold your position and times to make a tackle and I don't think we've found the right combination yet. All that aside, 4 wins in our last 5 in all competitions, certainly not something to be sniffed at. The loss against Saints last weekend has took the wind out of our sails a tad but it's hard to look past our brilliant form from the turn of the year and onwards. I feel as if it has been drastically over looked this last week.
A hell of a big thank you for winning today from a SAFC supporter, you could still finish 4th, we still have to play Everton and Spurs, hope we beat them.
Think 5th is pushing it abit, 6th would be above Everton and 5th would be an achievement, finishing above one of Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea. Think 6th would be the highest we'll finish this year though. Don't mind Sunderland too much, other teams I'd prefer to go down ahead of them but without Fletcher not sure who is going to score the goals to keep you up.
Henderson superb today, as was Ford, and Suarez not too shabby either. Good return by Pepe. Enrique good, Johnson not so good, Gerrard has played better, but still above decent, Downing averagish, Carra and Dagger OK. All in all. should have won by more. The Pundit
Thank for your result today! From a Southampton fan!! JayRod looks like he is pure class with his pace, dribbling ability and capabilityto pick a pass inside the penalty area for a splendidly worked opening goal against Chelsea. Would suit your team down to earth and compliment Suarez if you keep him.
