true enough forza we shouldn’t Fear anyone. However, their recent form is 15 from a possible 21 in a really tough run of fixtures,... they mullered derby, boro and (although they didn’t get three points) they battered West Brom too. We’ve won 5 on the bounce but against a lower level of competition and we haven’t looked our best. A result of any kind tomorrow is a good effort... but I belieeeve brother
Forest lost today so we're still 10 points clear of 7th (with tomorrow's game still to play). There's way too many games left to know who will finish top 2 but securing a play off slot would still be quite an achievement given recent woeful seasons. Hopefully we'll keep this great run of results going but if not, let's not get too despondent and try to look at the bigger picture. If we're still in with a chance of automatic promotion with 5/6 games to go then obviously the pressure will be huge but first let's try to enjoy every twist and turn which this season is surely about to bring. Regarding tomorrow, honestly I don't think we'll lose as we just seem to have the knack to garner a result regardless of the overall performance.
Heckingbottom interview ..... https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/paul-heckingbottom-leeds-united-podcast-15588311 Perhaps I'm biased, but I see a guy who did nothing right imply that he wanted to do the right thing but wasn't allowed. Or is it just that I'm late for my grampa nap & can't concentrate?
Just hope we're not in for a shock or two please log in to view this image Both Pablo & Pontus were visibly carrying knocks in the last quarter of the Bolton game
Let's be honest we were a complete shambles under Heckingbottom. Yes the season wasn't going well hence the change but his remit was to challenge for the top 6. To do that he needed, with immediate effect, to motivate players who were clearly underachieving. Unfortunately what actually happened was the players had so little faith in his formations and tactics they downed tools on him. Shameful and a disgrace but Bilesa saw that from afar and immediately consigned 15 players to the scrapheap thus gaining immediate respect. Those players that remained for pre season have been strongly rewarded and consequently have featured in the majority of games. For Heckingbottom to even suggest he may have been able to execute a similar change both in culture and performance is ridiculous in the extreme and he knows it. He was desperate for us to fail at the start of the season so he could claim we were unmanageable and therefore had been given the impossible job. Wrong...wrong...wrong, Mr Heckingbottom. You were just like all the rest that failed to turn us into a decent side...seduced by the bright lights of a footballing giant but ultimately inadequate, blind and lacking in the necessary talent to be able to make any impact.
So, This game is being touted as probably our hardest game so far, I'm not so convinced of that even though it'll be a tough game on paper. Personally, I think Sheff U was our hardest game, even though WBA beat us 4-0. We rose to the occasion against Sheff U, we played some good football and upped a couple of gears to boot, that was a brilliant game to watch performance wise, from both teams. Stats seem to separate AV and Leeds, we obviously have the better stats cos of our position, but stats mean nothing on a game to game basis in Championship. We've won 5 and lost 1 in our last 6, AV have won 3 and drew 3 over their last 6 games, but AV have not come up against our defence yet, what I will say is, BPF needs to be on the ball. Apart from stats, and knowing each other's capabilities over the first half of season, this is a game unknown to both sides as it's the first time we're meeting so far this season, and the way everyone's talking, it seems to be the climax of the season, but definitely the first half of season. Both teams have everything to play for, AV can gain 7th spot with a win and within striking distance of top 6. Leeds can gain top spot with a win, a draw is not really to either teams benefit, which makes it sound more likely to be a draw, which on paper would give us a slight benefit cos it keeps us 4 points ahead of WBA, being 6 points clear of WBA should a reason to play with enthusiasm, and commitment to winning. On paper, a draw looks likely, but I think we'll win it by the odd goal if we play the football we know we can play. I don't think there'll be room for individual posers in this match.
Wow jammy did'nt know you had it in you, that was some speech Btw A good festive morning to you all And here's to an early point or three from our father xmas,MR Bielsa
Win today and it won’t mean we’re going to get promoted, equally lose and it won’t mean we’ll fail in our attempt but... In my head I can’t help feeling that a win would seal it for us, I think to everyone neutral a win and we’d be the banker to go up on anyone’s betting slip.
