Good to see some activity (other than me) in this thread. EPL (Premier League), Sunday 21/06/2020 : Aston Villa v Chelsea, KO 16:15 hours, SKY. 19/06/2020 : I am not optimistic about this game, but I have gone for my default prediction nevertheless. My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea
19/06/2020 : Regarding Sheffield United's 'ghost goal', I commented about it yesterday in the Telegraph thus : The basic fault is the lop-sided camera arrangement, which I posted about on my football forum when cameras were first introduced. There should be two cameras to cover each goalline, from both wings. Doing this would raise the total cameras from 7 to 9 and provide total coverage of each goalline. EPL (Premier League), Sunday 21/06/2020 : Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea AVFC seem to have played this game Steve Bruce style today, with the usual non-result. This despite taking a half-time lead, but losing after taking the lead was common in SB style games too. Not good enough ! After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 34 to 33 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 50 points, with 24 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 26 points and GD at -23 from 30 games. This was AVFC's 6th conceded Double too.
EPL (Premier League), Wednesday 24/06/2020 : Newcastle United v Aston Villa, KO 18:00 hours - BT Sport. 24/06/2020 : As this match is on BT Sport I will be able to see all of this match live. I hope it will not be 90+ wasted minutes of my time ! My AVF prediction, made today : Newcastle United 0-1 Aston Villa
EPL (Premier League), Wednesday 24/06/2020 : Newcastle United 1-1 Aston Villa Not much of a match, we had the most chances early on but failed to convert any. NUFC's 2nd half opener was gifted, our defence was AWOL. Fortunately Elmohamady equalised late on from Hourihane's corner to save a point, but it is wins that we need. We are holding back too much and not pressurising our opponents; with some extra effort we could have won this game. After this result AVFC's total Form Points remained at 33 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 48 points, with 21 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 27 points and GD at -23 from 31 games.
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 27/06/2020 : Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers, KO 12:30 hours, BT Sport. 27/06/2020 : I hope to witness AVFC taking this game to our opponents today and get the win that is so much needed ! My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Aston Villa 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Alas my optimism, hopes, were dashed today. We do not lack effort, we lack direction, going circular instead of forward.
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 27/06/2020 : Aston Villa 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 33 to 32 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 45 points, with 18 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 27 points and GD at -24 from 32 games.
EPL (Premier League), Sunday 05/07/2020 : Liverpool v Aston Villa, KO 16:30 hours, SKY. 28/06/2020 : A week today AVFC visit the new EPL Champions, an honour Liverpool have earned well and thoroughly deserve. Now from fact to fantasy, my AVF prediction, made today : Liverpool 1-2 Aston Villa
AVFC's interest in the FA Cup in 2019-2020 was short lived, but for the record. FA Cup 6th Round (QF) results. Saturday 27th June Norwich City 1-2 Manchester United - AET, FT 1-1 Sunday 28th June Leicester City 0-1 Chelsea Newcastle United 0-2 Manchester City Sheffield United 1-2 Arsenal
Same old faces ! 28/06/2020 : FA Cup 7th Round (SF) Draw (alpha sorted) : Arsenal v Manchester City Manchester United v Chelsea Both Semi-Finals and the Final will be played at Wembley, sans fans. The Semi-Finals on the weekend of July 18th & 19th and the Final on Saturday August 1st. (FA website)
03/07/2020 : AVFC's final three matches in July now have had fixture changes to suit TV too. July 2020 Sun 05/07/2020 : Liverpool 16:30 Aston Villa - SKY Thu 09/07/2020 : Aston Villa 20:15 Manchester United - SKY Sun 12/07/2020 : Aston Villa 14:15 Crystal Palace - SKY Thu 16/07/2020 : Everton 18:00 Aston Villa - Date & KO time - SKY Tue 21/07/2020 : Aston Villa 20:15 Arsenal - Date & KO time - SKY Sun 26/07/2020 : West Ham United 16:00 Aston Villa - KO time - TV ?
EPL (Premier League), Sunday 05/07/2020 : Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa The result that most expected but not the drubbing that many had feared. Indeed it is unfortunate that it ended 2-0 from a virtually last-minute goal, after it had taken Liverpool 71 minutes to score their opener. After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 32 to 31 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 42 points, with 15 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 18th in the table, with 27 points and GD at -26 from 33 games.
EPL (Premier League), Thursday 09/07/2020 : Aston Villa v Manchester United, KO 20:15 hours, SKY. 08/07/2020 : AVFC go into our 34th EPL match tomorrow 4 points behind Watford and West Ham, who respectively won and lost their 34th games. We must go all out for the win, dithering about in defence and midfield will get us nowhere. My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester United
EPL (Premier League), Thursday 09/07/2020 : Aston Villa 0-3 Manchester United Once again it is a result most expected, given the contrast in form between AVFC and Man United. After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 31 to 30 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 39 points, with 12 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 27 points and GD at -29 from 34 games.
