AVFC can be very trying at times ! EPL (Premier League), Saturday 22/02/2020 : Southampton v Aston Villa, KO 15:00 hours. 19/02/2020 : West Ham lost their game in hand at Man City tonight, so AVFC visit Southampton still in 17th place in the EPL. I am going to be optimistic and predict a share of the spoils on Saturday. My AVF prediction, made today : Southampton 2-2 Aston Villa
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 22/02/2020 : Southampton 2-0 Aston Villa No show from AVFC at St Mary's today, which is not good enough. Maybe AVFC should cede our League Cup Final place to Liverpool (after all, we only beat their kids in the Semi-Final) and concentrate on EPL survival ! Our EPL position will not be clear until Monday night as both West Ham and Watford can overtake us. Man United host Watford tomorrow and Liverpool host West Ham on Monday. Attendance : No data (SSN) 25/02/2020 : Man United and Liverpool both won, doing for AVFC what we failed to do for ourselves. After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 37 to 35 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 58 points, with 33 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 17th in the table, with 25 points and GD at -18 from 27 games.
League Cup Final Wembley, Sunday 01/03/2020 : Aston Villa v Manchester City, KO 16:30 hours, SKY. 27/02/2020 : I hope all of the 33K AVFC Fans going to Wembley on Sunday will have good reason to enjoy the experience. please log in to view this image My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester City
League Cup Final Wembley, Sunday 01/03/2020 : Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City AVFC defeated but not disgraced in a match that was not the walkover many had predicted. It is especially annoying that the deciding goal came from an incorrectly awarded corner.
EPL (Premier League), Monday 09/03/2020 : Leicester City v Aston Villa, KO 20:00 hours, SKY. 07/03/2020 : All the teams around AVFC lost today, giving us the opportunity to get out of the bottom three on Monday. My AVF prediction, made today : Leicester City 2-2 Aston Villa
EPL (Premier League), Monday 09/03/2020 : Leicester City 4-0 Aston Villa I listened to this debacle on Radio 5 ... out of sight, but not out of mind, unfortunately. Attendance : 35,125 (BBC) After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 35 to 34 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 55 points, with 30 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 25 points and GD at -22 from 28 games.
EPL (Premier League), Saturday 14/03/2020 : Aston Villa v Chelsea, KO 17:30 hours, SKY. 13/03/2020 (Friday) : It has just been announced that all EPL and EFL games are postponed with immediate effect until April, including Aston Villa v Chelsea.
Coronavirus : 17/03/2020 : On AVillaFan today the Site Owner Stuart Young posted this question : COVID-19 With football currently on hold (and rightly so) what do you think the FA should do with the remainder of the season? My Reply : 17/03/2020 : This coronavirus lockdown will probably continue beyond the scheduled end of the 2019-2020 Season. It will probably impact the 2020-2021 Season too. The lockdown should logically continue until a vaccine is created and (like the flu jab) has been administered nationwide (and world wide). If we assume a vaccine has become available and administered by the end of this calendar year (2020), then to me the logic for football would be to scrap the 2020-2021 Season and play out the remainder of this Season, 2019-2020, from early 2021 instead. This to cover all domestic League and Cup and all European Club competitions, but not international matches. Season 2020-2021 would become a lost Season, joining the other Seasons lost to World Wars I and II, but the current Season would be completed properly and fairly, albeit a year late.
First time I've heard this suggestion and whilst I hate the idea of waiting so long just to see any football being played, I think it's a pretty decent idea. Probably one of the better solutions I'm going to share this btw.
Exactly, just carry on when safe to do so, as you said finish the season when appropriate and use 2020-2021 as a filler and complete the Euros too maybe add a competition if time allows grass roots will need games to recover financially.
02/04/2020 : This does not cover AVFC, but for the record. Yesterday UEFA suspended all Europa League and 'Champions' League matches until further notice. Home teams Euro games affected are : Europa League : - Round of 16 2nd leg, Home teams only. Thursday 19th March - postponed until further notice. Bayer Leverkusen 17:55 Rangers (3-1) Manchester United 20:00 Linz ASK (5-0) Wolverhampton Wanderers 17:55 Olympiakos (1-1) UEFA 'Champions' League : - Round of 16 2nd leg, Home teams only. Tuesday 17th March : Manchester City 20:00 Real Madrid (2-1) Wednesday 18th March : Bayern Munich 20:00 Chelsea (3-0)
Back to business then, with AVFC needing a win to get out of the bottom three ! EPL (Premier League), Wednesday 17/06/2020 : Aston Villa v Sheffield United, KO 18:00 hours, SKY. 15/06/2020 : That old cliche, 'a must win game', certainly applies here. I was briefly tempted to predict against AVFC on the basis that whatever I predicted would be wrong(!), but have stuck with my default score instead. Here's hoping for that win ! please log in to view this image My AVF prediction, made today : Aston Villa 2-1 Sheffield United

We could not even do ourselves a favour ! EPL (Premier League), Wednesday 17/06/2020 : Aston Villa 0-0 Sheffield United No change for AVFC after this result, still 19th. We have to hope the restarted Season is completed now and we take our chances to get out of the bottom three ! After this result AVFC's total Form Points remained at 34 ... that is, points after 38 games. The maximum available is now 53 points, with 27 points left to play for. AVFC are below par and 19th in the table, with 26 points and GD at -22 from 29 games.
Glad to see that you allowed the Blunts a walk-though goal, just like you demanded, and got, against Leeds. Great to see that sportsmanship is not dead & you did the right thing. Oh, wait a minute ..... Guess I'll need to revert back to considering you as cheating barstewards who don't have an ounce of sportsmanship between you. Guess fair play is a one-way road for your scummy team.
18/06/2020 : Three of AVFC's matches in July now have fixture changes to suit TV. July 2020 Sun 05/07/2020 : Liverpool 16:30 Aston Villa - SKY Thu 09/07/2020 : Aston Villa 20:15 Manchester United - SKY Sun 12/07/2020 : Aston Villa 14:15 Crystal Palace - SKY - KO time changed. Wed 15/07/2020 : Everton 20:00 Aston Villa - unchanged Sat 18/07/2020 : Aston Villa 15:00 Arsenal - unchanged Sun 26/07/2020 : West Ham United 15:00 Aston Villa - unchanged
You'll need to be at your cheating best against some of these teams! Savour it - you'll never play them in the PL again. Only 8 games to go, then you can stop worrying - when the reality of relegation will hit you. If going bust doesn't annihilate you first!
Come on Villa. You are and always will be,a PL club. Pity you had some doubtful managers!...but a great fan base.
