EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 05/08/2017 : Aston Villa 1-1 Hull City It has been the Test Match (cricket via TMS) for me today, but I have seen the match highlights on Channel 5. I predicted a 2-1 win so am disappointed AVFC dropped 2 points, especially as chances went begging. Attendance : 31,241 (SSN)
Football League Cup Round 1, Wednesday 09/08/2017 : Colchester United 1-2 Aston Villa No points at stake here! With nine changes to the team AVFC scraped through to the Second Round last night. I posted the following on AVillaFan pre-match yesterday : SSN have reported that John Terry, Captain, Leader, Legend, might be rested for this match. Not a bad idea, it will force the other players to show their mettle in a match that AVFC should win, irrespective of who plays. Attendance : (SSN)
EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 12/08/2017 : Cardiff City v Aston Villa, KO 15:00 hours. My AVF prediction, made on 11/08/2017 (today) : Cardiff City 1-2 Aston Villa
So much for my prediction !!! EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 12/08/2017 : Cardiff City 3-0 Aston Villa Nothing offered, nothing gained. This result sees AVFC in 21st place with 1 point from 2 games, 4th from bottom of the table. Not good enough !!! Attendance : 23,899 (SSN)
Forget the table right now, it means nothing but don't forget the result yesterday - you'll need to learn from it and fast. You were either very poor or just made to look poor by an organised side under Warnock with a purpose and a plan whereas you had neither. In truth your keeper kept you from a real scoreline drubbing - as it was you just got a drubbing on the pitch and a lesson on how to win a game. BTW, Terry was murdered by a 23 year old who ran him ragged. He'll have good games for you but this wasn't one of them.
EFL1 (Championship), Tuesday 15/08/2017 : Reading v Aston Villa, KO 20:00 hours. The triumph of Hope over Experience : My AVF prediction, made on 14/08/2017 (today) : Reading 1-2 Aston Villa
EFL1 (Championship), Tuesday 15/08/2017 : Reading 2-1 Aston Villa This gets from bad to worse. Poor performances yielding no results, of which the former is the cause for concern, as a team can play well but lose a game. Tonight sees AVFC 23rd in the table with only Burton Albion (0 points) below us. Attendance : 20,144 (SSN)
Sack Bruce and send Terry back to the OAP home. Bruce claims he is the right man to get villa out of the poor start, but wasn't he the manager at the start ?!?!
EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 19/08/2017 : Aston Villa v Norwich City, KO 15:00 hours. My AVF prediction, made on 18/08/2017 (today) : Aston Villa 1-0 Norwich City A more likely scoreline than my usual 2-1, so Sod's Law says it will be 2-1 ! please log in to view this image
EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 19/08/2017 : Aston Villa 4-2 Norwich City Hopefully this result means AVFC have turned the corner and will continue upwards (from 16th now) in this fashion. Attendance : 29,157 (SSN)
Football League Cup Round 2, Tuesday 22/08/2017 : Aston Villa 4-1 Wigan Athletic This is the sort of result we should expect from AVFC, so well done lads; four good goals too. It is rum that as the play and the results improve, the attendances decline ! Attendance : 18,108 (SSN)
EFL1 (Championship), Friday 25/08/2017 : Bristol City v Aston Villa, KO 19:45 hours, SKY. My (usual) AVF prediction, made on 25/08/2017 (today) : Bristol City 1-2 Aston Villa
Neither of us was correct ! EFL1 (Championship), Friday 25/08/2017 : Bristol City 1-1 Aston Villa After the displays against Norwich (EFL) and Wigan (League Cup), was it two points dropped tonight ? It was a cracking equaliser from Onomah. Attendance : 21,542 (SSN)
EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 09/09/2017 : Aston Villa v Brentford, KO 15:00 hours. My AVF prediction, made on 07/09/2017 (today) : Aston Villa 2-1 Brentford
EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 09/09/2017 : Aston Villa 0-0 Brentford No joy at Villa Park today, a draw is as poor as a defeat and AVFC remain in 18th position. Reading the SSN match commentary the attempts were Aston Villa 10-18 Brentford, which indicates an 'away' performance from the Home team. I missed all of this as I was listening to TMS (cricket). Attendance : 29,799 (SSN)
11/09/2017 : I have checked the BT and Sky websites for televised games and currently these are the Villa matches scheduled for broadcasting : BT Sport - No matches SKY Sat 16th September : Barnsley 17:30 Aston Villa Championship, Sky Sports Football (17:15) Sat 23rd September : Aston Villa 17:30 Nottingham Forest Championship, Sky Sports Football (17:15) Sat 14th October : Wolverhampton Wanderers 17:30 Aston Villa Championship, Sky Sports Football (17:15) Sun 29th October : Birmingham City 12:00 Aston Villa Championship, Sky Sports Football (12:00)
