Must admit at first I thought he was just doing it for his son but I'm not sure now. He is certainly ploughing money in and getting results. It's also quite nice to see the former Jordan team growing. I think we also have to thank Perez for assisting in it becoming Aston. Without him and other creditors it would have gone into administration and been broken up.

Just reading on BBC F1 page Aston Martin announced on Tuesday that Jessica Hawkins completed 26 laps in their 2021 car at the Hungaroring near Budapest last Thursday and that`s the first female to test an F1 car since 2018. Mike Krack was very impressed with her preparatiion and had a nice rhythm in the laps.Drugovich was also present and shared the test with Jessica.

Surely she should have done it on last years car?The regulations are completely different for the 2021 car than what they are driving with this season?

honestly, how do you get a test drive when you're so bad? Mahaveer Raghunathan has had 2, the last in June this year FFS, and he's ****ing terrible. He won a club championship where he was the only full time driver, the guy who came 2nd by 5 points only did half the season.
I want one! It'd probably kill me the moment I applied the brakes, but I still want it.

It looks a bit red bull and a bit merc. The sid epod entry is more extreme than redbull was but there is a compromise as you go down the side pods. theres two channels of air basically.

Anyway it's only a rendering so you can't see the position of front suspension except its very high like RB and you can't see the vane or floor entry detail from this.

at least it as a few centimetres of green as well as the black.

The airbox is using the wing mirrors to direct air quite a bit and the thing does look line the rads are lower down as if air needs to go to enter it. Who knows though.

Shakedown today for some more real car detail.

They’ve evolved the car a lot to be fair- don’t write these guys off if Fallows can find an upgrade path through the season. They’ve done some real work it seems.

Rear suspension confirmed as change to push rod (and therefore confirms Mercedes have switched to this too as Aston get those suspension and gearbox parts from Merc).

Im very interested to see how James Allison and Merc approach things, as well as McLaren of course.

According to Italian publication Autosprint, Adrian Newey has chosen Aston Martin.. According to the report in the magazine published on Thursday, Autosprint claims with certainty that Newey – rather than moving abroad to Italy to embed himself within the very different environment of Ferrari – has chosen to stick with a UK-based team.

Don`t know if I believe it or not,but Autosprint seen certain.

Was it Autosprint that published he had signed with Ferrari? From what I have read Aston have been offering over £100 million for 3 years, plus he gets to stay in the UK which used to be a bit of a sticking point for Adrian, although I thought that was when he had younger children.
Although Aston seem to be investing in the right way they don't seem to be getting the results.

Also reports of Max going to Aston for 2026 as they will have Honda! So, I assume that Alonso will be either looking for a new seat or retiring?

Newey is 65 and that deal keeps him at home largely and doubles his net worth

He will get total power to do anything he likes I assume and his intent is 2026 car from the gods.

In other words no politics, easier on the aged body and really sets his family up to be really really really comfortable

    (Not just really really comfortable)

I'd say at his ahe those won't be thst important. The f1 car takes all focus.

Aston is owned by Mercedes in the end but the Aston f1 team is owned by stroll. A slight degree of separation.

If you get Max ,you also get Jos.

I hope the car is good enough for Fernando to get some results out of it before he has to find another seat or retire.

Be interesting to see if Fallows stays and works with Newey again.

The infrastructure is in place for Aston that’s for sure.

I get the impression that they might have had a “Mercedes moment” and recently understood their problems- you just won’t see the progress until a particular update- whether that’s this season or the start of next time will tell!

Looks like Lewis will not benefit from the Adrian genius.
I hope that Adrian is not the only genius now. That the current generation of designers have learned a lot in the last few years. Adrian's genius has principally scored on the diffuser and the 2022 design rules. But many have caught up, learned, and maybe as capable as Adrian. I hope so.
As now, I am sure I speak for everyone, we need to see 3 or 4 teams (at least) capable of winning.
Max is good but he is not the only good driver, as we are seeing.

    Newey Championships

    Williams
    Mclaren (from nowhere)
    Red bull

    13 driver titles
    12 constructor Championships.

Denied by engines in the Mercedes era, often the car was regarded as best chassis.

Obviously not all of Williams success was down to newey, not even close.

But it's fairly obvious that he has been and is the engineer to beat.

Worth remembering that during the Merc years, Newey stepped away from focussing on F1 only really coming back full time when Honda replaced Renault - so some of those very good RedBulls that were hamstrung by the PU weren’t his.

Newey’s genius has generally been to see how to get the best out of new stuff first, so I do expect that wherever he lands (and whilst it does and always has seemed the most likely that will be Aston - everyone’s getting very excited over what seems to be a rumour!), does have a really good chance early in the 2026 ruleset. At least McLaren, RedBull and Merc are all perfectly capable of producing a class leading car without his influence, however.

Aston Martin ambassador de la Rosa and driver Alonso went head-to-head in DAZN’s ‘The TABÚ’ game, de la Rosa potentially offered some major insight, accidentally, into what the future holds for Newey.

“He’s someone you’re going to li…” At that point, de la Rosa noticed his mistake, then continuing to Alonso: “You’d like him a lot!”

At that point, both Spaniards began laughing, with Alonso replying “Newey” to de la Rosa as his guess for the person he was talking about.

Pedro de la Rosa virtually confirms it in DAZN’s ‘The TABÚ’ game

I really was hoping he'd have a spell at the Scuderia.
