Trying to look on the bright side, today is probably the lowest point of the summer. We are being told at least one new player is being signed tomorrow. You never know, it might even be somebody who isn't completely over the hill or crocked or just rubbish. The season kicks off in less than three weeks, and we could all do with some football to talk about rather than the non-rebuilding of our squad and the non-take over. EDIT: It looks like Darren Pratley will be the player signing on Monday. Central (?) Midfielder Pratley has been released by Bolton Wanderers, whose players are on strike as far as I know because they have not been paid for a while. The 33 year old played 11 games for Bolton in the 2016-17 season (their promotion season from League One) after spending the first 7 months of that season out injured. Pratley scored no goals that season. Last season (2017-18) Pratley started 32 games for Bolton in the Championship (most as Captain). He scored 2 goals and is credited with 3 assists. Pratley was not in the match-day squad for Bolton for 10 games last season, most of those in February and early April 2018. Pratley my have a lot of experience and leadership skills, but frankly 2 goals from 32 starts is not a great return for a midfielder - albeit that Bolton were generally pretty crap last season. And at 33 can the man have more than one serious season left in him, if that?
So he might not even want to come to SE7. No great loss in my opinion. The Club needs good quality players, not jobless journeymen, grandads and crocks.
Another new low today from Two Sh1ts. A new £1.50 charge ...to print off your own tickets in your own home .... Deary me #scrapingthebarrel
So, if I am understanding this clearly, it means the following; Buy in person (ticket office) ................. old system FREE ..... new system FREE Book online & print yourself............. old system FREE ..... new system £1.50 Book online & get tickets posted ..... old system £1.00 .... new system £1.50 Book by telephone ..................... old system £2.50 .... new system £2.50 So the only way Charlton fans can avoid paying at least a £1.50 surcharge is to go to the Valley and buy their tickets in person.
It's 1:45pm and Darren Pratley has not yet been unveiled as Charlton's latest signing. What's the hold-up? Inexcusable to raise fans' hopes like this...
He asked for 48 hours. Then he wanted another 48 hours. It looks like we are the last resort and will join us if no other offers are forthcoming.
