We had two chances - Ki was clean through but it bobbled when he hit it and Dyer hit a weak attempt straight at the keeper. Our lack of control in the second half is a worry, although credit should be given to Villa who are no mugs, they nearly beat Man U last week with 10 men!
How we have obtained our points this season so far: Top Half Teams P8 W2 D0 L6 F10 A16 = 6 pts Bottom Half Teams P 10 W6 D4 L0 F 13 A3 = 22pts
Monk is really making his mark on the squad, looks like Shelvey had better pull his socks up or he's out!................
A dismal performance at Anfield where we failed to put a poor Liverpool defence under any pressure - and paid a heavy price. We lost away to Liverpool last season so we are still 8 points better off than the corresponding fixtures last season. As QPR have replaced Cardiff, any points on Thursday will increase the points improvement over last season.
Whereas if we beat QPR that's 9 points from 12 over the Xmas schedule, which would be a very good job indeed
I thought that the performance at Hull, whilst not pretty was nevertheless a deserved 3 points. Villa did enough to earn a draw, but we held out. Last night, we were terrible.
I think any fan would of taken 9 points over the holiday period before it started, so lets get into them.horrible hoops tomorrow and ruin their home and our away form bring on 2015
Everything that Monk has done well has been blighted by the Liverpool match. Unbelievable decisions from him. If I was on the FA board I'd be looking in to gambling circles to see if there were any unusual bets put on.
Performances have been a worry for me, but then a good team can win when not playing well, I think its more the regularity in some of these poor performances which bothers me. Sometimes think Monk may be a little too friendly with the players looking at some of the attitudes on the pitch at times. Would like to see him make his mark and get the players fighting for their places, rather than just plod along like they have been doing, be a bit more ruthless. He still lacks in the subs department, but then that has been apparent since day one. Why he never changed anything at Anfield baffles me, the 4-5-1 wasn't working, but he continued with it. I do hope that he won't be another manager we get without a plan B.
That's why I wanted Monk to sub Jonjo after 25-30 mins v Liverpool. It would have put any such suggestions to bed and showed the squad that he won't tolerate such dreadful performances and that he can be ruthless when needs be.
Were we really expecting to beat liverpool we all hoped we could and the best i was looking for was a draw if i am honest. We were not at the races against liverpool could use the old excuse of too many games but personally i dont believe that at all. We were second best to everything from what i seen gave them the second and fourth goals and our backtracking was shocking for the others or should i say lack of (missed ki)
what annoys me is that Liverpool have been average at best this season and we made them look like world beaters, a draw was on the cards prior to the match but after the first ten minutes I thought they would win by 5, luckily I was wrong. Monk is clueless regarding team selection and subs. rant over. over to the transfer thread now
I can't say any of his decisions were unbelievable, in fact I would say the team and substitutions were very typical of Monk. I think I've only seen two games this season where his subs made any sense (or made any impact) at all.
A good performance at Loftus Road where we created enough chances to win the match several times over - but we've got to be more clinical and shove the ball in the onion bag. We should have been playing against 10 men from 5 minutes onwards and another dodgy sending off. We lost away to ***diff last season (QPR replaced them) so we are now 9 points better off than the corresponding fixtures last season.
