But do Assange/Manning et al want more or less freedom?

What efforts have either put forth to convince Russia, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc be free and open with their military secrets?

Kim Wrong Un will have you executed for not ordering tea and biscuits correctly, imagine some pissed-off army intelligence officer trying to get North Korean secrets published on WikiLeaks. We are being made patsies by our own people while Putin sits there chuckling to himself and getting us to vote for Brexit.

Sorry, this sounds a bit like Eddie territory, I'll step away.

    I see this as vigilantism

If you're getting away with it, its probably good. But if you're caught then tough ****.

You don't chase the ones who caught them.

    Try harder next time.

At the same time the reverse is also true. If we're going to be involved in clandestine activities that willfully harm or kill innocents in other countries, we can't hold a trumped up moral high ground when Russian agents turn up in Salisbury and tamper with the pasta in Zizzi's. I don't mind as I prefer Snappy Joe's on the Washway Road.

Do all the secret stuff you want, don't give a ****. Just stop killing innocent folk, ta very muchly.

Your point was a good one. Personally think drones are one of the ****est things ever invented as far as humanity is concerned. When you have to get face to face, whether it's yards away or across a battlefield in armoured tanks, soldiers and military hierarchy see death, destruction and wounded day to day, it keeps us in check with the horrors of war and invokes that feeling war should always be a last resort. Instead watching on screens and pressing buttons hundreds of miles away makes it less so and over time devalues life to nothing else other than a statistic.

Take that up with Dev or Aldo, not sure but they claimed to be ex-army and know the difference between a rooster and a russet, but anyway point being indiscriminate killing.

    Aye I got your point.

I'm just not keen on drones for other reasons as well.

And no thanks, I can just sandpaper my ballbag with 40 grit!

Funny enough I would like to think that the Swedes are pulling a fast one, arrest him with the warrant before the Brits hand him over to the Yanks, ideal world etc

Get with the programme Mick, according to the CTers, this Swedish rape carry on has been trumped up so the Swedes can get him sent back to Sweden...so they can then send him to the US.

And this after the Swedes dropped the case. They seemed a bit keen on re-opening it after the embassy booted him out for playing with cat turds or summat.

    Oh and Tags <laugh>

But they only do that sort of stuff for security agencies according to sauces.

It's getting a bit out of hand what with the Russians, Chinese and now the Red Sea Pedestrians getting in on the act. Can I at least be reassured that somewhere in the bowels of GCHQ there are a team of English boffins infiltrating some other country's computer systems? I pay my taxes, I demand that they be spent on snooping in someone else's back yard!
