I think he does have sympathy from the majority of those who care.

I don't. The coming weeks will probably give us a decent picture of whether he does or not.

I doubt it took much, if money was involved. It's Ecuador and they didn't have much motivation to keep him.

So who's in trouble? I must admit, I don't know much about Assange other than he lived in a cupboard for years and he now looks like Uncle Albert with a whisky hangover.

no, but rich countries had motivation to get him, it's good business to control something the rich want. Personally I think there'll be a bit of quid pro quo down the line in the form of a trade deal as payment .

Russia are pissed off and he was visited by Farage and Roger Stone. Also, Pamela Anderson, somewhat bizarrely.

Because he requested asylum and he could've potentially faced the death penalty, according to them.

You reckon it was purely down their concerns for his safety and not, say, an opportunity to make some money amongst other things?

I'm sure that it was a variety of things, including a political statement of some description.
They've pulled his citizenship and ****ed him off, so it seems that he was no longer worth keeping and he's being written off by them.
Maybe suing them over not cleaning up after his own cat and having to pay for the internet wasn't such a great idea?
