Many of my best mates are property developers in both Hull and the East Riding(residential and commercial), several are preferred bidders with both councils and are very well connected, they all tell me that ERYC would do anything reasonably possible to get this major sports village/stadium built within the council boundaries. The proposed site is not immediately next to residential properties, no doubt there would be opposition from some residents of Welton and Ferriby, but not nearly enough to stop it going ahead. That said, I don't think there's much chance it will happen.
I suppose if someone is saying they are willing to spend £100 million in the area you might expect the local council would be chasing you rather than just saying the are open to discussions.
Your contacts certainly seem more credible than the ones I'm basing my view on, but I'm still far from convinced for a number of reasons.
I have yet to meet or in fact speak to one single person who would be in favour of a move to Melton. Is there anybody on here who would be heavily in favour of abandoning the KC in favour of such a move?
should we read something into the fact that the 'opportunity' for Adam Pearson and other local wealthy businessmen to join Mr Allam in investing at the onset has never materialised to date?
The landlord of the Sandpiper? I'm slightly worried we'd all contract cancer from the remnants of Capper Pass (although my friends who had cancer in the late nineties, their late teens, who lived nearby could have contracted it by random natural selection).
I visited a medina in a recently trouble-torn muslim country in the spring. There were sellers of goods who bartered to complete a sale. One of the muslims took the trouble to explain to me that there are no fixed or displayed prices and what is expected is he will suggest a price and I am expected to barter with him until a price is agreed that we can shake hands on. Could this be how Mr Allam expects the Council to do business? If so the answer the Council should name a price of the full cost of building the stadium and then Mr Allam can bid one pound or whatever is his opening price and progress from there.
If he does end up buying the kc, I hope walton street isnt sold to him as I am afraid, however much I love city, the fair is a massive piece of our history and should not be moved!!!!!!!!
He wants to bring the british open squash championships to the KC now, oh yeah that will be a sellout. I'm getting a bit worried about the fella he is coming across as nutty as a fruitcake. I thank him for the bailout on city's debt but he does appear to be a bit of a loose cannon and that worries me
