Ron, DORCAS LANE was sold in Nov 2011 for 475,000 gns and tonight she went through the ring with a bellyful of Frankel baby and made 475,000 gns.......doesn't seem like good business to me! Not sold!
That's a heavy loss. Risky business. For each one of those breeders that made a juicy profit I suppose there are several that didn't.

Update on yesterday's Frankel mares:

Kirinda
Laurelei
Dorcas Lane

Were all "bought back in" by their sellers, meaning they were not happy with the price achieved. So no losses on these mares.

For the 7 that changed hands, they averaged 1,013,571gns.

Any idea why those 3 didn't sell. Was it down to pedigree, or maybe some of the other mares had produced very good foal(s) before, presentation, anything else?

Ron I'd guess that it's simply a case of the owners wanting more money for them than people were prepared to pay. It's like selling a house, you can ask whatever you like for it, but someone has to be prepared to pay that price.

Dorcas Lane is a tricky one as she is by an unfashionable stallion who is an unknown as a brood mare sire.

Norse Dancer has spent the last few years covering small books of mares at his owner Jeff Smith's stud. For 2014 he is moving to Yorton Farm in Shropshire to stand alongside Malinas, Librettist, Sulamani and Universal as, yes, a NH stallion.

Dear Princess,

not seen you posting for a while, hope everything is OK. Presumably just pre-xmas stress, but I send you my best wishes nontheless. Hope you are well.

Oddy, that's very sweet of you. I'm fine thanks, just very busy at work - I go on maternity leave at the end of Jan so have lots to do in the meantime!

Very glad to hear all is well Princess. I remember well the months leading up to the birth of our first child, very exciting times indeed. Hope you are having an enjoyable pregnancy and find the time to put your feet up over the holidays. All the very best for you and Mr. PNkt and the little one <ok>
