I'd assume it was Mr David Rawing who had the initial concept of using a board to draw on after his plan to draw ideas on Brie failed.

Sure you could write a message on it's skin and even attach it to a desk but it began to go off and would pollute the office with a foul smell. He was so close to creating the post it note!
