Perhaps he looked at the Gas and thought you know what, Sainsburys got their planning permission and still face delays. May as well save time redevelope AG and have done with it.
I know we wanted this new spanking stadium, but would we fill it? Some will say if you build it they will come, we are a massive population wanting high level football. But the sad facts of the day, we are in the old third division and we do have a healthy fan base but unfortunately it won't grow much more.
We support a team where you are more likely to see Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal tops than City or Rovers. That is the honest truth of it. Whenever we played Coventry at the Ricoh the place looked deserted but their crowds were bigger than ours. I didn't want to watch 15-18k in a 30k stadium I would rather see less empty seats in a smaller capacity stadium. Swansea done it right built a stadium where they know they can fill it, but if neccessary increase if its required.

We will be getting a new stadium.... Kind of. The Williams, Eastend and Dolman are all being demolished and being re built. The new AG looks really nice. Maybe in 50 years time we can have another pop at having a new ground............

The new AG looks like ****. It's a complete waste of money, and in ten years time we'll want to renovate Ashton Gate again.

If Ashton Vale is truly gone, then I think Steve Lansdown should look to build the stadium outside of Bristol. There is plenty of room in Keynsham, by the Cadbury factory. Build the stadium there and tell the council and the mayor to go **** themselves.
