bloody right they would kill for our problems. We see players join and we see players leave far better and we make a good profit. Who will be the next gem we make into a super star i wonder and not only that we keep on playing good football as long as its the Swansea way and we get richer and richer every season. Eventually i hope we move away from the liberty where we are restricted and build our own stadium and everything to go with it like hotel and ample parking space. What a dream....

Interestingly our decent players that move on often disappoint outside our system

From a website called HITC Sport....

Rumoured Arsenal target Ashley Williams has begun talks to extend his contract with Swansea City, according to a report at Wales Online.

Williams was thought to be on both Arsenal and Sunderland’s transfer wish-list this summer, but looks set to agree a deal that would make him the best paid player in Swansea’s history.

The Wales captain will provide a surprise boost to new manager Garry Monk’s squad for the new season, after he looked to be on the move with just a year left on his current deal.

QPR and Napoli were also linked with a move for Williams, and it will be to Swansea’s credit if they can lure the defender away from the much steeper wage figures of other clubs.

Williams has been with the Swans since 2008, and has figured prominently in their rise to the Premier League over the last six years. He won promotion with the club back in 2011, then captained them to their first ever piece of major silverware in the League Cup final in 2012.

His tall frame and solidarity at centre-back have made him one of the most talked about players in the transfer window so far, with perhaps only his age of 29 holding him back from a big club move.

    1) he's 5ft 10 or 11, not tall for a centre-back....he's not good in the air his strength is his strength (and reading of the game)
    2) Solidity is, I believe, the word he was looking for

Honestly do these blokes even bother to put the player's name in on you tube and watch 2 mins....does anyone bother to proof read before publishing?

Frankly , I really dont care if our " Captain " stays or goes . If he stays , let it be on a new contract and quickly.... If no new contract , sell him on to the highest bidder , quickly... no drama , get it done.

    Ash's agent Jamie Moralee;

"Ash has only got one year left on his contract, so clubs will look at that.
If a new contract is not agreed or they don't accept one of the bids, Swansea could risk losing him for nothing.
A bid has been made but nothing's been accepted or rejected yet - something has got to give.
There are two or three clubs interested in Ash, and they must be confident in their ability to compete financially and be up there with Swansea in their offer for him.
If Ash's contract does run down, it won't just be Sunderland interested. That will alert a lot of big clubs.
Swansea hold the aces with Ash because they can keep him and give him a new contract, or they can sell him.
Ash has to look for a contract that's right for him. He came to football relatively late and, as he's turning 30 this year, he needs a contract that can take him to 33 or 34.
He has to look out for himself and his family - football is like any other business."

A gun is being held to our head.
In such circumstances there is only one thing to do....stick said gun up Jamie Moralee and Ash's arse.
Let his contract run down and only use him as back up this year, unless we receive a sensible offer. About £6m would be enough to buy a replacement.

Agree , he'll be missed but he's not irreplaceable ,and yes he's right, football is like any other business but as the Employer the terms and conditions have to be sustainable by the club so I expect that which ever way it goes it'll be in the best interest of the club .

Ash's Agent wants ash to leave as he will get nothing if he runs his contract down and goes for nothing next season....The agent as usual is looking after his own interest and not Ash or the club....Take no notice what any agent says as i don't..<ok>

He's only worth 4-8 million IMO so I'd hold out for £6 million then let him go.

He aint worth that on his last year of his contract and his last year in his 20 's . 4 million is almost a gift , imagine Williams's "highest paid player ever for us " and us possibly dropping to the Championship .Take the money and run , now that his agent is nibbling for a huge contract .

He is worth much more than £8m to us, Its not worth letting him go for £4m, Let him go on a free next season if he has a mind to but i think he will jump at a chance to sign an extension to his contract and the only one who will be pissed off is his agent....he is trying all ways trying to get him to leave just so he can benefit.....ash wont go anywhere unless its a big club, qpr and Sunderland is no benefit to him and a backward step but it would make his agent a few quid...

4 million for Williams is good business for us at this moment and a good opportunity for Williams to test his ability at a high paying "Big Club ". Then we can pay Laudrup dai .....

The "who " it is doesn't matter as much as the timing . 4 million is 4 million now and nothing is nothing after this season . The contract we will have to sign to retain Williams is far to much of a chance with an older player and the chance we may get locked into the contract if we drop . Let Ashley take his chance with a big club with his big money earning ---just my opinion .

You talk as if Ash is an old man <laugh> you don't get teams like Arsenal and Napoli interested if he was rubbish would you. Ash is worth near the £10 million mark and should not be sold for £4m, What a bargain that is for someone and what a big loss for us as we lose our captain and a defender that other Bigger clubs want. It don't make any sense when he is worth more to us next season than any £4m we may lose in a years time....

If Williams had 3 years left on his contract then maybe we could get 8 million , but he doesnt and we wont ...And we are at a very unsettling time this season to sighn him for what his "Agents " wants ... surprized Huw hasnt run Williams 's agent out of town , hes good at doing that a the wrong time , lets him give it a try it at the right time ...... Williams caused a lot of crap " staying " over the years , enough is enough .Not worth giving up the 4million on the sale and saving on wages. Great Swan , but no song if I had my way dai..
