Lucky Anderson wasn't playing otherwise they would not have got such a high score , I have to admit I do not know what tactical plan they are playing to , all will be revealed

Wow......Pardew 8 for 15 and then goes on to get a ton, combine today's performance with his Tour de France win and then you'll realise why we should have kept him.

With the Aussies still 90 runs behind and only 3 wickets remaining at the end of day 2, I reckon John Carver's got a better chance at making a comeback than these lot!

Tactical plan? I would have thought it's fairly obvious. It's the Test Match version of pulling a 'sickie' on the last two days of the Test Match.

Ashes should be back where they belong by lunchtime tomorrow with a bit of luck. Cannot see how the Aussies can possibly get out of this now.

Personally I think the last test at the oval should be used to try out Bell's replacement. At the very least he's looking like he needs a rest from test cricket for a bit.

The Aussies are balls deep in humiliation here. Looking forward to putting them to the sword today.

Aussies can't play the moving ball and are too arrogant to adapt. They have a "it doesn't matter we're Austrailia" type boorish attitude. Smith's dismissal yesterday was so dumb its unbelievable - 2 balls before tea??? Clarke is a broken man. Warner will get off to a start and then chuck it away. Their best batter Rogers is retiring! The two Marsh's may go better in home conditions.

To be honest England aren't that good. Batting wise we are still as frail as ever. Joe Root aside. We will get bounced out again down under if Johnson remains at his best. Starc is so erratic. He does take wickets but has to learn to bowl a length, even in Aussie conditions. I think Hazelwood has a mountain of potential - again its consistency. The aussies have major issues though - where is the next raft of quality batsmen coming from. At least England have the Yorkie production line with the likes of Lees and Leaning. James Taylor/Hales and so on could still improve. I actually think Hales is tailor made for Aussie pitches. The true bounce there and his height/aggressive stroke play is a possible source of encouragement.

All in all England have been comfortably better and deserve to win. I just think these two teams are a bit short of top level batting wise.

I think you're essentially right and then throw in a bit of 'one day cricket' mentality. I doubt whether the likes of Ian Chappell or his like would have surrendered their wicket so easily but would have dug in and battled and ground out an innings. On a five day test you don't have to score at one day rates. Applies to England as well.

England got plenty of good players coming through. Think James Taylor will be the first guy to get a chance when Bell retires or someone is out. Also wouldn't rule out Ballance getting another shot at some point.

Still won 5 out of the last 7 Ashes series', 4-1 will be nice if we at The Oval.

On another note I went to Lord's on the 3rd Day and Headingley on the 3rd Day when we lost to New Zealand there earlier this year.

The Aussies have applied themselves to conditions finally. It might not last though. Pup made the right call, he looks a husk of his former self. Its great to see. England need to step on the gas if they want a result out of this wicket, looks a belter.
