They just don't seem to value their wicket at the moment.

Heads are gone. Sack off Gooch and get in Derren Brown to straighten them out with his mind tricks.

Prior looks like he's batted himself into form. Class is permanent.

I just hope Cook remembers that and he shows his class in Perth.

agree on prior and cook. pietersen has always been unpredictable and inconsistent. pity about trott. hope root and prior have gained confidence from their knocks. i can see bresnan in for the next game. panesar's selection defies belief. broad's had the odd decent knock. swann is off form with the bat and ball. bell's probably the most reliable at the moment, though his second innings effort wasn't up to it, but these things happen.

not convinced by broad's bowling either, but at least he's a bit more consistent than finn, though neither are economical.

there was some stupid shot selection throughout the match.

They need to learn from this. You don't need to play bouncers. Just duck out the way.

We also need win the toss. I think we've lost the 4.

I wish Cook would stop saying 'it's the simple deal'.

    It sounds daft.

It's nearly as annoying as the Aussies saying 'look' at the start of every sentence.

For the record I've just been in the loft with Gary the pest control man( great bloke is Gary).

No sign of any critters, no squirrels, rats or mice.

We think it's birds nesting in the facia and soffit and the only way to locate where they're coming in is to move all the loft insulation.

The bastards were at it again at 5 this morning.

    Not happy.

A hot reception waiting for England in Perth. Temperature forecast for Day1.... 38C, followed by 39C, 39C, 35C and a cool 31C. No rain forecast so the best of luck and if you win you will certainly deserve it!

I don't know you. You seem to be confirming the statement in the article that the family were illiterate. As regards the bald reference in my username it relates to a 1990s Hull City fullback. I am the proud owner of a full(ish) head of hair. Unlike this chap.

Nothing to do with lack of fight or passion. It's to simplistic to say that. Lack of passion doesn't get you out hooking or pulling. That's more arrogance or overconfidence.

As Nelson said at the Battle of Trafalgar "England expects every Englishman to do his duty."

Maybe a bit too late for talk of reclaiming them, but at least have a go.

Australia I think. Or Hong Kong.

I just hope we put a fight up. I don't mind losing the Ashes, it'll be nice to win them back next time, but this is a **** Aussie side we're making look ok at the moment and that's annoying.

I'm not sure I 'd go as far as saying they're **** but they they are pretty average barring two or three class players.

What has annoyed me is how short we are of playing our best cricket.
If you play your best and get beat you just have to say the better team won. As it stands a county second 11 would have beaten us in the first two tests.

    We just haven't turned up.

I can see us losing this test as well though.

Australia are 265 for 5 in their first innings late in the day.
