today's the second t20 against india (england lost the first one). debutant richard gleeson will be thinking it's a piece of cake. he's taken wickets with his 5th, 7th, and 8th deliveries. not just any wickets, but sharma, kohli, and pant.
It's a heck of a debut.
Been watching him in The Blast for ****ashire and thought at 34 he was not going to get a chance. I actually thought the other night that he would be a better option than Topley.

third oldest england debutant. a return of 4-1-15-3 is pretty good in 2020. india still got 170 though.

Disappointing result, I really thought after their innings which we restricted them to what appeared to be a relatively low-ish score, we would make a successful run chase. Wasn't to be, and their bowlers seemed to get the ball to do more than we did.

Yeah, top 5 haven’t performed at all have they. That Indian attack looks strong doesn’t it, getting the white ball to swing.
Only YJB to come back in, though they’ve got to find a place for Root now he doesn’t have the added captaincy pressure. Probably at the expense of Malan, which is harsh. Conversely, not sure if Stokes will come back in?Probably wouldn’t get In the top five but he does have that ability to change a game. Harry may have to wait unless he scores big in the final game. Salt also looks like he’s not far off. I can’t recall Roy doing much over the last couple of years, maybe on borrowed time. I do think we have the depth in the squad, just not available for this series.
Buttler has to hand the gloves over to YJB (or Salt but only if if he’s in the first XI) and stand at mid off. He’s too far away from discussions.
the bowler and things change so quickly in T20.
Considering we have eight (?) pace bowlers injured (though not all are white ball) and Rashid missing, not too worried about pace. Gleeson looks a find in time for the World Cup albeit short term.
We’ll certainly be a team to fear in the World Cup, though it is in Aussie, where we generally struggle. I can’t see beyond India tbh.

I agree, I think Root has to come in, he just adds that stability and generally scores quickly with low-risk shots.

21 needed off the last over, 3 wickets left, and the two current batsmen have only faced 3 deliveries between the...

20 off 5
20 off 4
20 off 3. that's a big ask.
20 off 2, 2 wickets left.

disappointing effort in the odi decider.

root and bairstow out for ducks in the second over.

topley gets a wicket in three of his first four overs and then gets taken off. baffling.

Yes, and not batting out our overs is criminal, some very quesionable shot selection towards the end.
