yea maybe your right but you never know these days....He certainly wont be for the money as he has loads but if he wants to stay in football then who knows...

A giant on his day but like the whole team terribly inconsistent and is definitely replaceable imo. Oh and he was absolute pants yesterday.

Don't see that at all "Lillith".

What I've seen all season, apart from a rare and occasional mishit/pass has been Ash commanding his defencive role and every one around him.

Ash plays his own game well but simultaneously he controls and manoeuvres our defence and the players around him.

All I hear when watching at the Liberty is Ash screaming and shouting instructions to everyone in defence, even attackers when the come back for a defensive stint. I also here Monk shouting "Ash", "Ash", "Ash" and when Ash finally looks at him invariably he gets a thumbs up :emoticon-0148-yes:.

He is replaceable I agree "Lillith" but at what cost. To replace him we'll have to pay top $ and then we'll get a player who is only as good as Ash currently is (for us anyway)

"Dying for the shirt" is an emotive phrase that means little and doesn't equate to consistency.

Secondly, he has been a 'rock' in some games, no argument from me. He was anything but that on Saturday and if you were at the game or saw ALL of it (not the highlights) I can't see how you can disagree. First half he gave the ball away more than he passed to a white shirt. So much so that when we got a free kick some of the guys around me joked that we may as well give it to an Everton player to take. He did improve second half.

But this isn't one game imo. There are games when he looks edgy and indecisive imo and that spreads through the team.

On balance, I agree he's been a great CB for us and has stepped up to this level smoothly. Would I want to lose him? Definitely not. Is he replaceable? Like every other player, yes.

That's what the 'hell' I was talking about. Hope I've cleared that up for you. <ok>

Yep - all cleared up in a depressingly predictable and condescending way.

Glad to oblige. <ok> You needed some schooling. "Dying for the shirt" is a throwaway line that means nothing when it comes to ability or consistency. Hope you get that now. :)

Other than the wobble at the weekend I would argue Ash has had his best season in the PL. Fernandez is also becoming a bargain at 7million too.

Tell me any player in any team in any league in the world who dont have a poor game sometimes. you wont be able too and i agree with valley that this has been ash's best more consistent season even though he has done a good job as captain in every season he has played. He has earned his Legend status as a true jack and i think he will still be the captain next season......

Agree on Ash but would still prefer Chico - IMO Fed is probably more dependable in purely defensive sense but Chico was more exiting and better with the ball on the floor. JUST MY OPINION

This is a football forum where 'throwaway lines' abound and they don't 'mean nothing'; it was a figure of speech - everyone on here (except you apparently) would know that it means that he gives 100% commitment, not that he actually dies for the shirt.

Will make sure I have all my posts vetted by a translator before posting in the future so I don't confuse you anymore. <cheers>

Ashley Williams has been one of our most consistent players for years and is highly valued by the club (if not you) - I apologise for any offense I caused by disagreeing with your original post but I will mention again that this is a football forum where differing opinions are to be encouraged not greeted with sarcasm and condescension.

And I thank you for your 'schooling', you really do love yourself don't you!

<laugh>........ Well said Cartoon, though Lilly just doesn't get it, never will, I do feel sorry for him these days though.

Regarding Ashley Williams, he will not be leaving us any time soon, The club will not sell one of it's legends, and our Captain is respected from all corners of the Premier league. He's had one of our best seasons ever, solid rock at the back, and has blocked shots all season by putting his body on the line, not had many bad games this season in my humble view. Hope we see him for another 2 or 3 seasons more, great player...<ok>

Agree Dragon - but Lilly is a newbie on here so he can't be expected to know what an immense player Ash has been for us!
