There's something in that, but I think it reflects how today we live in a culture of implied offence. It's not my, your or Suarez's prerogative to worry about how we'll offend - people will inevitably be offended by something. There is obviously a difference between being potentially offensive and deliberately inflammatory. Don't resort to hyperbole. I was explaining why our fans react in the way we do. Frankly, it's tiring. I think it was a bit of both. Evra was very reluctant - offering only a suggestion of a handshake. Suarez (with all the pressure on him) must have thought Evra was trying to make him look like a fool, so he moved on. I'd rather he'd have grabbed Evra's hand and made him shake it, but it was in the heat of the moment. Actually do think it was very clever from Evra - he knew fine rightly what he was doing and the implications.
Rev, i like most of your post and you speak a lot of sense. But, the inability by most Liverpool fans to see any wrong in him is now a little embarassing. When he doesnt shake hands. It was evra setting him up. When he dives constantly, Oh well everyone does it. When he is banned for what ever offence it may be. Well it was just a word. There was no offence meant. Guys, you all need to look at him and be honest. There is no smoke without fire. Your backing of him is admirable, but its time that Liverpool fans get honest with themselves. It cant be everyone elses fault. there is only one common denominator in this and that is Suarez.
At the end of the day, and in the final analysis, you have to ask the question, why is Suarez so despised in the game, by most neutral and opposition fans? Why isn't he a likable character in the game? And on that basis I rest my case!...............
I think most of our fans will now readily acknowledge he has faults. You can't defend his diving or play-acting. It's embarrassing. He's not the only one that does it - but he shouldn't do it regardless. The racism thing is a different matter. We shouldn't even call it the 'racism' thing, because strictly he's never been recognised as guilty of 'racism' per say. He is a divisive character... His tenacity and will to win often spills over into petulance, nastiness and cheating. Can't put it plainer than that. But, if he was on your side, you'd appreciate him. He's a pleasure to watch every week, he adds so much to every aspect of his team's game. I hope you all see I'm not an apologist.
A pleasure to watch every week eh ?? ..., come off it, your all over compensating for the buck toothed racist mun!! get a grip up there will you ..
... We must book mark these word boys, what happens when he goes to Man city,Chelsea or Madrid in the summer ?? ... He will be a supremly talented Judas ,buck toothed, cheating, diving racist then ! mark my words!...
I think the guy is a tremendous player, but everything else that goes with him is just not worth it. I have never known any other liverpool player who is or has been as hated as much as him. he is bringing the name of a once great club down. it would be a big no thanks from me.
Trunds i told them that earlier mate, they will not listen!!.. They dont seem to realise how much he is damaging the reputation of a once great club.We as football fans are on the outside looking in and they are on the inside looking out, it just doesnt compute with em mun!! The mind set has changed up at anfield nowadays
While I don't like Suarez and his diving antics he has, since the refs have clued up on his blatant cheating, started to play a lot more football. I think he's a top class player and do worry that Ash will have quite a bit of egg on his face come Sunday tea time. I hope I'm wrong.
This has been a long week! Soon the talking will be over and the real action can begin. May the best team win and all that.
I had that one coming! Only a matter of time before someone photoshopped Suarez's face on to Ashley Young.
Below are Rodgers comments about Ash .Liverpool boss Rodgers, who was in charge at Swansea last season, called Williams after reading the comments, and the defender has since spoken to Suarez to ensure that there is no animosity between them on Sunday. "I have spoken to Ash, and Ash has spoken with Luis, so there is no issue there," Rodgers said. "When I saw it, I was surprised because Ash is a real good man with good intelligence and maturity and a good footballer player. "When I saw those comments, I spoke to him and got the full explanation of how it seemingly got out there. He was very quick to want to apologise for that. "That is done. There is no problem there and I am sure they will shake hands on Sunday and get on with it." Sunday's match will mark Rodgers' first return to the Liberty Stadium since he left to take the Liverpool job in June, although he received a frosty reception from Swansea's fans when the two sides met in the Capital One Cup at Anfield last month. I don't have an agenda against Rodgers but who the F**k is he to be given an explanation of what & why Ash had written .Is he trying to calm the waters before the January transfer window ?.
Where as our managers' comments : Laudrup insisted he hadn’t felt the need to speak to the defender about his comments or shaking Suarez’s hand in the traditional pre-match ritual between the two sides. “Fair play is important for me, but again if two persons do not want to shake hands then I don’t know,” he said. “It’s nothing that will bother my sleep at night. “What is important for me is that I know I’ve got a player who, even if he plays against a player he doesn’t like because of certain things, I’m 100% confident that he will do a great job on Sunday. “I know Ashley well enough and I know he will be focused on the game whatever he has said in the book. He will play by the book on Sunday. “I don’t think he will lose his head just because he won’t be sending Christmas cards to Suarez.” The man is class
Agreed, and he's spot on too. Maybe Rodgers is concerned about gnasher losing his head and ending up with a suspension. He knows they're bollocksed without him
I did. 'who the F**k is he to be given an explanation of what & why Ash had written .Is he trying to calm the waters before the January transfer window ?.' Why the vitriol? Your qualification of 'not having an agenda' doesn't really stick!
