I think that's harsh. Surely he'll be missed. I mean he scored penalties against Serbia and Australia, and for that was deservedly named BBC African Footballer of the Year. Rooney can only dream of that.

Why the hell does such an award exist anyway?

In all seriousness though, in a way it's an understandable move even though he isn't exactly being respectful towards Sunderland or Bruce. If was offered to quadruple my wages working for some mickey mouse company in the Middle East doing work that's far easier than my current one I'd probably take it

He would have only ever been a run if the mill PL player, one who plays for mid table sides like Sunderland, so it's unlikely he would ever win any trophies in England, so why not quaddruple his wages, he's just earning a living at the end of the day.

All footballers are branded greedy, but anyone else in his situation would have done the same. Football is a business these days, and money talks. You realy think all those top players would be at a club with no heritage like City and Chelsea if they weren't being paid through the roof to do so:biggrin:

If you enjoy what you do for a living, then you'd want to challenge yourself at the highest level.

Most people I know don't exactly love their jobs. Not that they hate it, but if you offered them something "easier" for a lot more money, then you'd take it.

We look at things differently because we aren't professional footballers. I'm sure most of us want to be, would have liked to have been at one point in their life, and some on here may have even had a chance at doing that so we have this perception that if we were in that position then we'd be at the club we love regardless of the money.

Personally I'd love to be playing for United for about £10 a week. <ok>

But it's not going to get me far in terms of life.

In the premier league? I wasn't suggesting he was going to be wiped off the planet, just that he will hardly be missed in this country.

And he won't be, he'll be forgotten in a week.

Yeah, didn't spot that. In fairness, it is not obviously sarcasm when re read.

If I were in his shoes I'd leave, even if it meant taking a paycut, anything to get out of Sunderland! <laugh>

The only reason this is a talking point is because he told Bruce a day before the game that he wanted to be a Sunderland player, then 2 hours before the game decided to leave the Premier League for some team in the Middle East.

You seem to be forgetting lads that this is not the whole reason why Sunderland and most football fans are annoyed with Gyan, its down to his bare face lies and unloyal behaviour.

This guy was given his chance to play in the Premier League by Brucey and our owner Ellis Short stumped up the £13 million to make his dream a reality. One year into his 4 year contract and he ups and leaves to AL AIN on the Saturday after promising to Brucey & Quinn that he was staying with Sunderland and loves the club etc, only for 48 hours to pass and hes having a medical in Dubai.

The guy is a coward in the eyes of Sunderland fans.
