It was 3-3 over two legs and Arsenal dominated possession and chances. It was missed chances by Arsenal that is the reason Monaco are through. How can that mean that Monaco schooled Arsenal? I know it is upsetting to go out but there are positive things from that win.
Which stresses the importance of character. Adams, Vieira, Henry had it in spades. But who would you trust to step up when needed now? For all the millions spent, Utd are the same. No Vidic or Keane or Cantona. Rooney has it, but I don't see anyone else with a burning desire to win whatever the odds or to enforce their superiority at all times.
TBH we have nobody to step up, we don't have major characters in this team, even a player we thought was that leader, Mertesacker, has regressed and he was at fault in fact for the first leg when we conceded the second goal. We have lot's of amazing technical players, can't argue that, but in terms of leaders, we're short there.
I don't buy this **** about lack of leader and lack of character. We ****ed up the first leg and that was because the whole team were trying to score when we should have been defending. They all played really well tonight and were within a whisker of pulling of an historical win. It didn't happen, but that's football. All of this lack of leadership and being schooled is bollocks in my opinion.
The positives about tonight are :- We won We didn't concede We kept our winning run going We've got Newcastle on Saturday so let's hope we carry on the good run
That's all that matters, within touching distance of making history, andddddd we failed, again. No glory in being close to history and failing. We did get schooled by Monaco in the first leg, who's fault is it that we were all trying to score and Monaco took advantage of it? LOL that's the textbook definition of schooling us, they keep it tight, barely let us play, then when we go attacking strong, they hit on the break and open us up grabbing 3 goals at our ground. What do you call that? Luck? LOL my good lord that is some good spin jobbery right there, yes yes we weren't schooled, we were just trying to score, lolllllll.
I didn't say there was any glory in failing, leave that to the Spuds, it's their motto. I said that the talk about us having a lack of leaders and character and being schooled by Monaco was bollocks.
We do lack leaders, Mert should have taken charge, instead our captain was just as weak as the rest of them, and responsible for that dumb second goal.
I can't be ****ed to argue with you. We ****ed up the first leg and the whole team are culpable. They played really well tonight and came within a whisker of pulling off the near impossible. If Giroud or Sanchez had put that 3rd one away you'd be all over it saying how good we are. Fine margins, we came up short. But this talk of lack of leaders and getting schooled is a crock of ****.
We should change our name. Arsenal ''Glorious Failure'' Football Club. Doesn't have a nice ring to it, but it's ****ing apt.
Well you can go and wallow in that glorious failure bullshit if you want. I'll leave that to the Spuds motto. If you want to align yourself with that, fine
Go wallow in your sadness if you want. We've won 13 in 15 games and we have an FA Cup to defend and City to catch.
